Admin Ask For An Inch, Give A Mile

September 5th, 2005 by Admin

THIS is a story that will warm the cockles (one's innermost feelings) of anyone, I don't care who ya are.

flood relief

Our local news channel and an area supermarket, HEB, teamed together to hold a food drive where members of the community could donate 5 items FEMA requested: water, diapers, peanut butter, granola bars, and tuna. HEB was hoping to collect enough donated items to fill 2 semi-truck trailers to send to FEMA in Austin, so they could send them on to New Orleans and to the shelters for the hurricane survivors… At the end of the day, we were working on filling TRAILER NUMBER 7!

That is just amazing. Alot of schools here are collecting items. I was a proud Mom today when Daniel took $10 out of his bank and bought food.He wants to do more so he might also be making a cash donation. One of our grocery store chains is also matching donations up to $100K.Things like this are what makes me proud to be an American. :)

I was just reading some of the recent comments people posted regarding this picture. It makes me upset really. But I don't know why stupid people work me up. I am so sick of people putting a blame on what happened. Get over it already and just help! Stop bickering on who is to blame and just help clean up! I swear some people can't live a day without complaining about something! And lookie here, I'm complaining now about complainers! Just ticks me off!

It makes me very sad that this country has not come together like it did after 9/11. I really would have expected more from everyone. My heart is heavy.
I live in Savannah, Ga. and this could have EASILY been my city that was destroyed. So I'm helping in the only way I know how, free services for those with no voice. We currently have numerous dogs and cats boarding at no charge in our kennel. We have washed them so they will be clean when their owners come to pick them up. They are all embarking (no pun intended) on the next chapter in their lives. I wish them the very best.
