Marcus BREAKING: Hathida Hoax?

June 9th, 2006 by Marcus

[CJ NOTE: ATTENTION!! This is a must read and something that CPL M and I have stated numerous times about what was going to happen with this allegation. SPREAD THIS NEWS!! Let's give the Marines back their dignity!! Why isn't the "investigative media" making this breaking news?!]

Think it could all be a hoax? The American Thinker does, and they present a great argument. If this turns out to be true, the final nails in the coffins of the MSM and Murtha Focker will be pounded in. All I can add is a big wow.

More at Wizbang and as it develops.

Edit: Got in a rush. . .again. Small grammar type correction and tie fixed.

Update: I’ve done a bit of thinking about the article over the course of the night. The scandal potential is greater than that of the TANG disaster. If what the article asserts is true, we’re going beyond TANG. The careers and very lives of several Marines hang in the balance instead of a possible reelection. Haditha now goes beyond just several Marines. From where I sit with what I’ve read, it looks like the media is now using the military as a political tool against the War on Terror. Patriot already said it, but I would like to repeat what he said.

Mark my words, this is just the first of many allegations that will come out of Iraq. As the insurgents realize the massive weapon they have in their hands right now, they will leverage it. The “mercenary killing” angle will their nuclear weapon, their WMD. And as the media reports on these ALLEGATIONS, America will begin to believe them. After all, a lie told so many times begins to become the truth.

Will we allow it to become the truth?

Update: Sweetness & Light direct link for the lazy ones.

Update II: Greyhawk has a huge post up that isn't even complete yet. If you read it before it is complete, ensure you check back for whatever he adds.

Update III: WaPo: Marine Says Rules Were Followed

A sergeant who led a squad of Marines during the incident in Haditha, Iraq, that left as many as 24 civilians dead said his unit did not intentionally target any civilians, followed military rules of engagement and never tried to cover up the shootings, his attorney said.

Greyhawk does a nice job of summing it up.

Update IV: Mary Katharine Ham of Townhall has the Top 3 things to remember about Haditha that the press would like you to forget. Setting the record straight on Haditha

Yes, the media is the judge and jury AGAIN, but they were helped along by their "inside" Military sources. Even some of the milblogs are saying that they overhear some officers calling the Marines guilty as sin and cursing them.

This is a common failure in the Military, at least it was forty years or so ago. Officers jumping to conclusions and more likely than not being wrong almost every time.

The seeming colusion between some of the Military (both Marine and Army) and the Media is sicking to me. Even if the info passed to the Media was 100 percent true, it never should have been passed and the Military people (I would bet all my money on it being officers only) should be required to resign or else.

What should the "or else" be, use your imagination.

What absolutely amazes me and puts me in a state of complete awe is how the blogging community has rallied to come to the defense of our service members. People are over there putting their butts at risk every day for us. Now when the chance comes from some people back home to come to the defense of those who defend us, they rise to the occasion and do the dilligence that the journalists were paid to do.

If nothing else, this is the most honest example of the love and devotion that Americans have for their service members. That we will not allow them to be given a trial by media with hearsay evidence and conflicting stories by conflicting sources without a fight.

Our service members deserve better from us. I have nothing but gratitude in my heart for the bloggers that are bird-dogging this. This is how American REALLY supports its troops.

This is just awful! The media and some people are making a big stink out of this when like Cpl M said the very lives of these Marines hang in the balance.

I pray that the truth comes out and the media will have to eat their words. To use the military as a political tool against the war on terror is just plain sick!! :(

  5. Kate Johnson says:

I'm wondering if some insurgents came in and killed the civilians–and they could have come in dressed in a way that made the civilians believe they were marines. Is this far-fetched?
But all in all, I don't believe any of the Marines would do this. Why? They would certainly be aware of the increased danger it would put them in.

  6. Cpl M says:

Kate, I wouldn't be surprised if terrorists did kill the civilians, but I highly doubt they came in Marine uniform. They would have one hell of a time getting the uniforms, and they would use them a lot more than just once.

I’m sorry, but doesn’t supporting the soldiers, also means supporting their cause?? Civilians shot at close range, that is suspicious….. I mean if one does not protect the cause, that being protecting the civilians of Iraq, how can anyone really support the troops over there? There is no way in hell this was a battle, and whatever caused this “incident”, one should resolve it, and support those soldiers who actually is committed to the job…. Again, that being; protecting the civilians…..
