We're Proving Them Wrong (More WMDs Found)
June 29th, 2006 by Patriot
The good news just keeps coming. For three years, our country has been dragged through the mud by our own people. The anti-war and anti-Bush crowd has crammed down our throats that there were never any WMDs. For months, Cpl M, CJ and I have been pointing out all the facts about WMDs and how they've been ignored in the media. Every time more WMDs and components to create WMDs are found, they are cast off as "small find" or "not significant" enough to warrant justification to invade Iraq.
To all those previous posts, I add that we're STILL finding WMDs in Iraq. Not new stuff either. We have found more Iraqi weapons in recent months, in addition to the 500 chemical munitions recently reported. And they continue to question the significance of our continued finds.
Posted in Military PerspectiveLt. Gen. Michael Maples, director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, did not specify if the newly found weapons were also chemical munitions. But he said he expected more.
"I do not believe we have found all the weapons," he told the House of Representatives Armed Services Committee, offering few details in an open session that preceded a classified briefing to lawmakers.
Responding to questions from lawmakers anxious to make political points ahead of the November congressional elections, U.S. defense officials said the 500 chemical weapons discovered in Iraq were "weapons of mass destruction." However their degraded state may make them more dangerous to those who find them than anyone else.
When asked by a Democrat to confirm the weapons pose a risk to troops in Iraq, not Americans at home, Maples said, "Yes."
Republican lawmakers, some facing tough election battles amid growing anti-war sentiment, called the discovery of the weapons significant.
Republican Rep. Curt Weldon of Pennsylvania suggested the munitions were in fact the weapons of mass destruction that former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein lied about, leading the United States to war.
"For those who claim that these weapons are not the weapons of mass destruction that the United States went to war over, I would refer them to 17 United Nations Security Council resolutions that Saddam Hussein violated," Weldon said. "It didn't say pre-'91 chemical weapons. It didn't say post-'91 chemical weapons. It said chemical weapons."
But Democrats dismissed such arguments and said the weapons were not the "imminent threat" used to justify the war.
"It's very difficult to characterize these as the imminent threat weapons that we were told we were looking for," said Rep. Ellen Tauscher, a California Democrat.

Patriot,
I believe that the chemical weapons that have been found could have been a great threat to our troops and others. The liberal bunch have told the story that there are no WMD's for so long that they believe it and many other people believe it too.
I for one believe that there are many more WMD hidden somewhere and perhaps Syria might know where they are.
Some of the media have spread the rumor too that there are no WMD. I believe that we are just seeing the tip of the iceberg (so to speak).
These people won't believe there were/are WMDs until the insurgents/terrorists successfully use them. Then, I'm sure they will come up with more negative things to say about the President and the troops.
No, they would just find some way to imply that the President and the troops were the ones responsible for the WMD attack. It would be a twin for the current rumor that the collapse of the Twin Towers weren't caused by the plains flying into them but by an implosion ordered by none other than the President himself.
Somtimes people are such twits.
Finally, a glint of truth about WMDs; however, we then go on to accept officials' and media rep's politically expedient dilution of that reality. We jsut accept it, without insisting on action or consequences for the traitors involved. Now comes congressional resolutions from congressional blowhards, and most of them consider that "action" – big deal. What if charges are brought officially against treasonous behaviors? Courts (and voters) will then clarify what treason is, instead of talking heads wondering aloud how the founding fathers/mothers or Eisenhower administrations would have viewed this modern-day treason. Only integrity-challenged, morally bankrupt individuals could refuse to see how leaks and political demamoguary are damaging our national security in the face of warfare against extremists like al qaida, hamas, hezbollah, etc. We need ACTION!!!
It's always good to find others who can see through the lies put out by the mainstream media. WMD's DO exist and HAVE been found. There ARE more out there, I truly believe that. Unfortunately, as someone mentioned before me, I am afraid it will take another attack against Americans on American soil before many people will understand the dangers.
Why the silence from the Bush Administration on this recent discovery ?
I never doubted it. I have read too much otherwise.
William, that's a good question. One of my big complaints has always been that the White House isn't doing enough to keep the public informed about our successes. Maybe he's been too busy shuttling the Japanese Prime Minister to Graceland lately. But really, who cares why the administration is silent? We shouldn't be.
