Marcus USMC Silent Drill Platoon (Video)
August 13th, 2006 by Marcus
I mentioned I was able to catch the Silent Drill Platoon while in Missouri for my wedding and taped it back about a week ago. As promised I've uploaded it to YouTube. Here is the video.
You may ask what is up with my early morning blogging. I'm just burning off the rest of my energy from watching World Trade Center this evening. The wife and I made it a point to have the classic dinner-and-a-movie date since we haven't really gone out without family or friends in quite some time. I'll write something extensive up about the movie in the morning, but I'll leave you with this. Not a dry eye in the theater, and it was a fairly packed house.

They are awesome! I was fortunate to see the Silent Guard perform at the Springfield Armory in MA last year. Just amazing!
Fantastic! I love watching this these guys.
In the Army we have a silent guards too. Their usually located in towers and at checkpoints sleeping.
Reminded me of 'Silver Taps' at Texas A&M. Thanks for sharing this with us.
WOW – THAT IS TOO FREAKIN' COOL!
Amazing, simply amazing!
Never tire of seeing these guys!
Makes you proud, doesn't it?
Kinda' wish I had stayed in the area another day to see it.
Sooooo cool!!! I've seen several videos with the Platoon in it or even featured, but none of them show the entire routine. Especially the perspective directly behind the two Marines – it shows the symetry and accuracy perfectly. You've just made my day, Cpl M!
Cpl M, I'm curious as to what kind of facility and/or event brought the Platoon to that location. I think it would be great for the military to have more interaction with civilians, but unless you're really lucky or got connections, it seems as though demonstrations like that are few and very far between. In DC during the summer there are apparently a lot of concerts and demonstrations, but the people of DC are probably less supportive of the military than the rest of the country (except maybe California). Even the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds tend to hit the same places every year. The taxpayers pay for all this, we should be able to see it.
Hey, I don't know any of you guys, but I love watching the silent drill teams.
I found this video googling for silent drill video downloads to show my youth group, I'm giving a lesson over spiritual discipline and I couldn't think of a better example of strict discipline and the outstanding outcome than the USMC silent drill team!
I wanted to say thank you, though, I love the military, but it can be an extremely harsh enviroment for a Christian. Reading the comments I was pleased see that no one used any curse words. I get tired of reading and hearing that type of language around my friends in the military, you gave my a refreshing feeling when reading those. Thank you.
