LL Cigar Update
March 10th, 2007 by LL
Well Cpl M should be receiving the humidors and his first shipment of cigars any day now. I wanted to kinda update you guys on what is going on at the Let's Talk Cigars chatboard. It appears that Jeff Jackson, my contact at cigar.com has a wide clientele of Soldiers and Marines. He's sent the link of the chatboard out and they are registering and commenting and there are even pictures posted.
I'm hoping that some of you guys get involved too. I have One Day Specials posted (which Jeff and I worked out to last from Thursday to Sunday night so it's more of a 3 Day Special
), Jeff is willing to answer any and all questions you may have about cigars, and any cigars that you order, whether for personal use or to send to troops, will "credit" Cpl M's program and he will get freebies out of the deal.
I'm also working out how to set up a Paypal fund for those who just want to donate a dollar or two to the cause without having to choose cigars to send or whatever. And I really mean just a dollar or two. I wouldn't want anyone to break the bank for this, but for the price of a cup of Venti White Mocha from several people would easily pay for a box of cigars.
The whole project is in flux in the sense that it's expanding way beyond what was initially planned. I believe the words "building an empire" was thrown about in email. hahaha So keep visiting the Let's Talk Cigars chatboard cuz new stuff is going up all the time. This thing is snowballing and I'm hoping to generate enough momentum that it will basically sustain itself in the long run.
There are also other units who would like to receive cigars and I'm trying to sort out if I need to set up 2 Paypal accounts or whether one will suffice. I'd like to be able to send a sampler or box to other units. Maybe set up a Request Category for guys overseas to post on. We will maintain strict OPSEC and no addresses will be posted, but maybe more cool pictures will come in and we would all be able to enjoy seeing smiling faces. That's my favoritest thing ever. Seeing a smiling Soldier or Marine, kicked back with a stoag in his hand and a RELAXED look about his body.
If you don't approve of tobacco, and trust me, my boss totally got on me about sending cigars to my pups citing that I was contributing to ill health and I can respect that position even though I don't agree…I figure IEDs and Snipers contribute more to our troops' ill health than a cigar, but whatever. Anyway, if you don't approve of it and don't want to financially or materially support it, would you at least consider sending the chatboard link out to those you know who DO smoke cigars or wouldn't mind either blogging about it or supporting it? That would help tremendously right there.
Thank you guys so much for your patience with me and this thing. I'll probably not be posting over here anymore and taking up your time. I just wanted to give a final disposition type thing so you guys are aware of what's going on and how you can help Cpl M help his comrades during Cigar Hour with the Chaplain. Thanks again.
