I remember sitting at MEPS with my daughter each time she went there (she was DEPS) and I would have a flock of kids sitting with me, telling me that either their parents weren't talking to them because of their decision to join up or they hadn't told their parents because they would be really, really PO'd or they didn't have family. Broke my heart. We made sure at Devon's Basic graduation that there weren't any graduates without family left alone or without a hug and congratulations.
