Marine CW4 Cannon Cargile was wounded when an RPG hit his Humvee this past March. He has been in many missions during his 23-plus years in the Marines. He is currently recouperating at Bethesda Medical Center.

He is the recipient of the Navy Commendation Medal for valor under fire. The medal was awarded for Cannon's actions as part of the Third Battalion Sixth Marines in Afghanistan. On June 7, 2004, a patrol in the village of Tantil came under an overwhelming enemy ambush from two concealed positions. According to the citation, “with little regard for his own personal safety, Chief Warrant Officer-3 Cargile led and motivated the Marines under fire. His actions…saved the lives of U.S. military forces.”

He has since been promoted to CWO4 and is one of the elite group of 52 Gunners in the Marines. Cannon is also a member of the North Carolina Bow-hunters Association.

A Warrio Mom would like to gather as many emails as possible to put in a binder to send to him at Bethesda.

If you like to send Cannon a few words, please email them to MomofDJT [at] aol [dot] com

Don't be shy… a picture would be cool as well.

Thanks bunches!
