The Forgotten War – Film
June 10th, 2007 by White Rose
We hear so much about Iraq and not much about Afghanistan these days. The efforts of our troops there are not to be overlooked and forgotten.
Afghanistan was host to the original war on terror. Sanctioned by the world community following the attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, the United States launched a counterattack, toppling the Taliban regime within weeks.
From that point, the focus switched as the United States began operations to hunt down al-Qaeda leadership and training camps, and directed resources to rebuild the war-torn infrastructure of Afghanistan. These efforts were designed to prevent a future foothold for terrorist cells. However, Afghanistan began to slowly slip from our headlines. It wasn’t long before military operations went mostly unreported.
But one man is trying to bring some light to what is going on in Afghanistan through a documentary film.
Documentary filmmaker Scott Kesterson arrived in Afghanistan in May 2006 to begin a 14-month journey as an embedded journalist. His film examines the pitfalls and perils of a mostly forgotten war told through the experience of daily living with soldiers. Kesterson tells their stories from his roots as a citizen journalist and a former National Guard soldier himself.
You can read more about this film and when it will be released at The Forgotten War. I can't wait to see the film once it is released.

Thank you White Rose for putting this out. I agree, my husband and I were just discussing this very issue the other night. Those fighting in Afghanistan are fighting a very tough fight and in very rugged terrain, and amongst other issues. They are not forgotten, thoughts and prayers are with them. I too, look forward to the film's release.
Good for Scott Kesterson for making this film. I would love to see it! Our soldiers have sacrificed and are sacrificing much in Afghanistan as well as Iraq!
