The Two Faces of Obama [Update]
August 3rd, 2007 by Patriot
[Update] Way to go!! This is what Obama gets us in Pakistan – an ally:

Pakistani protesters burn a U.S. flag to condemn U.S. presidential hopeful Barack Obama's remarks, Friday, Aug. 3, 2007, in Karachi, Pakistan. Pakistan criticized Obama for saying that, if elected, he might order unilateral military strikes inside this Islamic nation to root out terrorists. (AP Photo/Shakil Adil)
By now everyone has heard the infamous quotes from Barack Osama…oops…Obama about the possibility of invading Pakistan:
"Let me make this clear. There are terrorists holed up in those mountains who murdered 3,000 Americans. They are plotting to strike again. … If we have actionable intelligence about high-value terrorist targets and President Musharraf will not act, we will."
Barack Obama, the "only candidate for President who was opposed to [the Iraq war] from the beginning", is advocating taking going in and taking out terrorists in an ally nation. Now, don't get me wrong, I use the term "ally" when referring to Pakistan quite loosely. But, let's analyze Obama's comment. "If we have actionable intelligence about high-value terrorist targets" we will act to prosecute them, he says. Ie: we will strike…somehow.
Oddly enough, we have proof that Iran is doing just what Obama claims is attack worthy – murdering Americans. There are numerous reports, stories, and evidences suggesting such. Yet, Obama does not sing the same tune there (probably because Iran is too close to Iraq, which he has staked his political career on).
“We can rattle our sabers all we want but, realistically, we don't have troops for an invasion [Iran] and surgical strikes aren't going to work.”
Why would an invasion and/or surgical strikes work on Pakistan, an ally, and not Iran? After all, Pakistan is doing a HELL of a lot more than Iran in helping us combat terrorism. Iran is a state sponsor of the practice!! Al Qaeda has made Iraq the central focal point of their war on America and Obama wants us out of there. Exactly where does he stand on this war on terrorism anyway? Or has he bought into John Edwards' line of thought that this is just a "bumper sticker war"?

Very good points about Iran!
Surely this man is not that naive.
I love OBAMA! Every time he opens his mouth, he loses prospective votes.
Nothing. And I mean absoluty nothing surprises me what the Democrats running for President say. Or those in office. How many have said the War is lost.
ALLONS
Obama sounds better than the rest of the weasels.
I find it rather insulting that you started off this ridiculous "commentary" with an oops of Osama in between Mr. Obama's name. How much of an ally can Pakistan really be… or yeah, it does not condemn the irresponsible war in Iraq when the folks who were responsible for the 3,000 people WHO DIED in NY and DC and the missing twin towers are hiding in the mountains in PAKISTAN!!
I think its a great strategy that Obama is using. Now the field has something to really talk about. They were just running for president and had no real debate that shows us who there really are. Obama sets himself apart by being extra-ordinary.
Did you know they burnt flags in Parkistan in protest agaist Obama? They only burn flags and protest, if they beleive that you are strong and presidential. They will never burn flags against Hillary because they are not afraid of her. Bill will be running, if she ever becomes president. think about it? Memphis, TN
Zawahiri…oops, Lynn,
First of all, you know nothing what is going on in Pakistan obviously. Pakistan is ACTIVELY pursuing people in their own country and killing them. What is Iran doing about the terrorist behind their border? Nothing. Pakistan is providing intelligence and manpower in the war on terror. What is Iran providing? Nothing – but terrorists.
Why did I write Osama instead of Obama? Because if you are not helping our efforts against the enemy, then you are helping the enemy themselves and you are no better than they are. Harsh? Yeah.
Not naming names. I might make an oops… or more.
But I guess many feel we are back to pre 9-11. Guess they don't hear the talk coming out of Iran. Guess you think that if we would only withdraw from the ME. Everything would be OK. Guess you support a presidential wanna be, oops, who insults a country that is supporting us. At least in a limited way. But no. Let us slap him in the face as oops did.
As for all you oops… complainers. Think about all of the men and women who are and have served in the military so you can complian about oops… all day long.
Have a ooping great day.

Lynn have you been to Iraq or Afghanistan, or are you yet another of those "armchair quarterbacks" who think they know what they military should be doing. Patriot has been there and I think that he's more than earned his right to "oops".
Allons, Patriot, as always, thank you thank you thank you for the incredible sacrifices you have made for all of us, even for Lynn, who is one of those people who is living in that wonderful place where her fingers are always in her ears singing "La La La La I can't hear you" when ever the truth is told. I do have to commend her on not saying that it was the President who brought down the towers though! There maybe a ray of hope.
:::snort::: Obama is a joke waiting for a punch line. That he seems to have all the foreign policy finese of Bill Clinton is only frosting on the cake. If Obama was elected president, we'd be electing Jimmy Carter to the State Department as official puller- of-the-fat-out-of-the-fire. Of course, we ALL know how well Jimmy Carter dealt with Iran (not!)!
He talks a good talk! But that dog can't hunt, just like the new congress still all words and no action!
GUY,
They have been able to start over 300 investigations of President Bush and company.
Other then that they have been flat.

Okay, I don't often agree with Barrack Obama, but he might not be as bad people are saying he will be if he becomes president. I think we all here are better than that, and that we don't have participate in the same form of slander that people in the Anti-Bush crowd are participating in. Bush doesn't deserve this, and neither does Barrack Obama.
"They only burn flags and protest, if they beleive that you are strong and presidential."
-So I guess Bush is strong and presidential, huh? Actually, I take back the guess, I know he is.
It's not slander if it's true (and, in fact, obvious to anyone who watches and evaluates with any common sense).
Moslems don't burn flags because they believe you are "strong and presidential". They burn them if they get t'ed off at some slight (real or imagined) and if they think you might be intimidated by it. They rioted when the Scandinavian cartoonists drew cartoons they didn't like. And you think Moslems considered the cartoonists "presidential"? Really, now.
You're right, the Scandinavian Cartoonist wasn't presidential. So, I wonder what point was Memphis Ten trying to make? The fact that the Scadinavian Cartoonist had nothing to do with the government debunks the notion that Memphis was trying to make. You don't have to be a leader of a country for somebody to riot against you and/or burn your flags.
-Given the picture above and how we started talking about riots with burning flags in them, we should start a thread about whether or not if flag burning is a first amendment right or not a right at all. Just a suggestion though.
Memphis Ten,
How lost are you? BTW. The cartoons came from Denmark.
ALLONS
-Yikes, my fault. Shouldn't have said Scandinavia.
BTW, what has Barrack Obama done bad. I have heard of him, and have paid a little bit of attention to him. I just didn't think he was all that big of a deal.
You can relax, seal. Denmark is a Scandanivian country. Scandanavia is usually considered Denmark, Sweeden, Norway and Iceland…ie the homelands of the Vikings.
What's the big deal about Obama? There isn't one. He's doing a puffer fish move, that's all.
Miriam,
You blew my punch line. That's OK.
ALLONS
Seal, you need to go back and start reading Obama's speeches to find out what the big deal is. The man has made more than one irresponsible statement that has sent me running to his website flipping off an email, to which I can tell you he has never responded. He is not pro troop, in thought word or deed and he does not belong in the Commander In Chief position because he does not, as many of the candidates on the left, have our troops best interests at heart. Mr Obama's faux pas have been coming at an alarmingly increasing rate and one only has to turn on the news most mornings to find out his latest one. But mostly what I have against him is his anti troop statements. Of course he hasn't come out and just said that, but his words can only be construed in that respect.
