Thank you! I think that it is great... The way that you honor your staff that have been called to military duty.
I know that I will continue to shop at Sears.

I wonder what happens if the person makes money in the military than they did I Sears. That's what happened to me when I was working at JCPenney's and got called up in the reserves about 3 years ago.

The press isn't really "selective" about this particular type of news - they just cannot advertise that the military cannot support a family on the wage that is paid out. Our government is, though. How sad is it that Sears has to do this in the first place? The US Military pays less than the cost of living, provides very little benefit, and cannot even support a family of 3 on the wage they are paid. With one spouse in the military, one spouse working a full time - 40hour a week job, and they cannot make it, even with military housing.

It's a pathetic statement that Sears has to do this.

A very uplifting bit of info from sears. I think I will make an extra effort to support this company and its policy towards those serving our country.

Sears are not the only company to do this. The large US based multi-national I work for also does this.

That's good to hear. Especially when I just got done talking to a friend who thinks most military personnel come out of the service screwed up in terms of getting jobs. Although I agree with him on that since I see some of our veterans ending up homeless and hungry. I don't generalize that most troops wind up in the gutters after having served our country. Glad to see that Sears is pitching in to help our troops, a lot of the troops that I had mentioned a few sentences earlier could use something like this.

I'm impressed. Unfortunately, "the press" is very selective about their output. Any reports that reflect positively on the Iraq mess we're involved in, is sifted out of any reportage.

Thanks for the heads up on this!

Sears has really stepped up to the plate and hit a home run for our Military Men & Women Reservist that are employed by them.

I hope that this gets a lot of Main Stream News Coverage and other American Corporations step up to the plate as well.

Sears has long been a great company that stands behind their products & services and it's so great to see them Standing Behind their Reservist Employees.

Way to Go Sears!

Yeah, uh, this is great and all, but it hardly makes up for the other things Sears is doing.

To give one example, several months ago Sears completely stripped pension plans and old-age benefits from those retiring from the company. My dad was two years away from retirement, having spent twenty years with the company. Now, his pension is frozen and he can never truly retire (since he needs to keep making money to cover the costs that would have normally been covered by his benefits).

Personally, I'll never shop at Sears again.
