CJ [update] Hollywood Can Kiss My Ass
February 26th, 2008 by CJ
[Update] I found a link of the video of the Soldiers introducing best documentary. You can watch it HERE.
During the Oscars tonight, John Stewart introduced some Soldiers currently deployed to Iraq to present the Oscar for Best Documentary: Short Subject. Normally, after a presenter is introduced there is an uproarous applause. When the Soldiers were introduced, hardly anyone clapped! Hollywood, KISS MY ASS!! Jon Stewart, YOU DA MAN!!
Posted in Military Perspective

What are "Oscars"? If it is related to Hollywood entertainment, who cares? Has anyone ever wondered why "American Idol" is called "American 'Idol'"? Turn off your televisions to make your lives better and improve America.
CJ,
I think the "trend" for showing support for the troops in Hollywood fell by the wayside a few years ago. Sadly, most Americans emulate and get their news from Hollywood celebrities rather than political leadership. This lack of interest in military affairs is all the more reason to be actively involved in the blogosphere. Thanks for bringing this to light, I was sleeping in my trailer while the Oscars were going on. I was glad that "No Coutnry for Old Men" got an Oscar though that movie was excellent.
OK, I am going to let ya'll be the first to know something important!
After fighting all the people in Hollywood that were to scared to put real money into a big screen movie about Iraq, it is looking like we may have someone willing to put up the below the line cost for the movie based on my book. According to Eva Gardos, the writer/director, if we get that, the rest will come and she is in hopes that we will be going to Dubai to do filming late this year.
Hmmmm….didn't watch the Oscars but not surprised to read this. Gotta ask – why is Jon Stewart "Da Man?"
AMEN! I knew there was a good reason for not watching them. It seems to me that the academy awards is just a way for them to pat themselves on the back.
CJ, I would respectfully ask you, "Do you really want them to kiss your ass?" I wouldn't. "Do you know where that mouth has been?" Do you remember what they say about "paybacks"? "Paybacks are a real B___H!" Just wait until that place wants something! Hmmmmmm!
Grumpy
Leta, Jon did a great job hosting the Oscars. He was witty and made fun of the "system" as often as he could. Not only that, but independent song writer Marketa Irglova won Best Music Written for Motion Picture (original song). Her fellow writer, Glen Hansard took all the time and when she went to talk, the music started and the mic was cut off. After the break, Jon Stewart pulled her back up to give her acceptance speech during what was supposed to be his monologue time. Just a funny, classy guy!!
Grumpy, I guess you're right. Besides, I don't think I want many of those people too close to my ass for other reasons…
Just one question about "No Country for Old Men", is it really "pro-soldier"? Just asking since I have not seen it, but from what I read, it is allegedly about a WWII Veteran who questions his own service and a Vietnam Veteran who chooses to take money and leave a wounded man to die in the desert. Doesn't sound like a movie where I would want to identify with the "hero". Have I been mislead?
SSgtJ, unfortunately it's rated R and I don't watch R rated movies for personal and religious reasons. I'm not the right guy to ask, but I'm curious about that as well!
I quit watching the Oscars a while back. But, good on Jon Stewart, bad on the Hollywood audience…
First, let me tell you that after 30 plus years service to my country, I havenrither any use for or interest in Hollywood. They have been a tool appeasement and exploitation of the very constitutional rights they so comfortably trumpet when it suits them. Seondly, all this chest beating about Bush lying and people dying is nothing but pure complicity with enemy psychological objectives; three, if President Clinton had done the right thing during the every-escalating credscendo of bloodletting and bodies during the 1990s, President Bush would never have inherited the mess he did, and 9/11 probably would never have occurred. Fourth, it is more than obvious that the same voices and righteous indigation of the ant-war and appeasement crowd-along with their stooge tool politicians were completely and absolutely unconcerned during the 1990s when the blood of innocents was shed repeatedly, and never adequately confronted.
I stopped watching the Oscars years ago ( even when I was in "the business") I always felt there was WAY too much self-aggrandizing behavior going on.
I resent the elites anti American and especially the anti-military attitude. Jon Stewart as most on the left use our military to benifit their needs of the moment. Why hasn't he promoted the positive things our troops do on his show? Yet he'll have the Leftist spew their propagnda . Did you know that the before Oscars parties featured large golden statues wrapped to look like the images the media promoted of the prisoners at AbuGhrab? Stewart was positive towards the troops on national TV,then he gets points… and the Hollywood moonbats didn't cheer. I would have been shocked if they did.
Thank you for letting me post. I apologize if I sound angry.I'm just angry with these Leftist Elitists.
Vincenzo: your points are excellent and true!
Hey CJ, sorry I haven't been on in a while, we're preparing to go down range. So anyways, I read the article you published about Hollywood not honoring our soldiers, that got me thinking. Why don't we gather some people from Hollywood, get them a plane ticket, give them some body armor and a few things that a soldier needs, excluding weapons, cause we don't want to take any chances, and send them to Iraq to go on at least one convoy with our soldiers. I think that will put a perspective in them and show them a thing about what we go through. Mabey then they'll change their tune after getting gawking looks from Iraqis, and the possibility of going through an IED blast or a shoot out. Of course they will be fully protected, but let's just give them a taste of what we deal with on a daily basis. This remedy will work, I guarantee it. I don't mean to be blunt, but until you experience a deployment, you have no room to talk, and you must honor our soldiers. At least show some respect.
SPC B,
I actually did see Angelina Jolie in the Intl Zone in Baghdad when she came here to do her "humanitarian awareness" for Iraqi refugees. I'm not sure what she accomplished, and the IZ is definitely not where "the troops" are at unless you count a bunch of staties and staff officers.
White Rose – -
Best of luck and prayers for success on your book-into-film.
Please keep us posted.
Dubai should be a perfect area for filming, as Dubai remains largely pro-American in spite of the shafting given them on the Dubai Ports deal.
My and my families support for you always, and you can say that again about hollywood, and except for a few intelligent caring celebrities, they don't know which end is up. Quit watching them long ago, get my information and keep up with you, the really important people online. Love to you all, and just FYI have 5 in my extended family who have served along side of you all in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Ruth in Bend, OR God Bless You!
I want to thank all of our subscribers for their support. This war is painful, but we must continue to support our troops until the day that Washington says, "Lets bring our boys home!" Whether you are filthily rich, or piss pour, whether you live in Big City USA, or Small Town America, we owe our lives to our troops, and regardless of which side you're on, always have respect for our troops. It is because of them that we are still alive today, we owe them that at least.

She penned a nice piece in the Washington Post.
Great Link Wordsmith! I happened to catch Angelina Jolie on a news/interview thing a while ago about her trip to Iraq and the humanitarian efforts that she feels can and should be made there. I detest hollywood as a rule, but I have to say that what she said truly impressed me as intelligent and well thought out. And the piece from the WP shows that too. She has my respect for her honesty and candor about the situation. No spin, just the facts.
And her statement about what the Soldiers told her about going home echoes what I hear from all my guys, and is contrary to certain nameless people who continue to yammer about how the war is lost. That's coming from anti-war hollywood as big as it gets. Stay focused, finish the job. She's blond and SHE gets it!! lol
What is your take on the fact that Obama is now the very first president not to go to the heroes ball? With a daughter in the Air Force and a Dad who fought in WWII I think it sucks…
