I am a Christian before anything else. To think that killing equates with love is a twisted thought that lands people in jail when they kill.

Disappointed isn't the word. Surprised. Dumbfounded. Relieved. Astounded. Especially considering the way they advertised the event. WSII didn't exactly help the IVAW cause in my view. It just showed how jaded some people can be without good reason.

I wasn't there, so I can only write about what others said outside of the video I watched. Since you were so involved, perhaps you can tell me the true purpose behind WSII. The testimony was accurate in that it gave veterans' experiences, but why use the "Winter Soldier" moniker to describe it? The original Winter Soldier was meant to indict Soldiers for "war crimes". WSII must have really let down your VVAW handlers.

Also, please feel free to check with both Mr. Lilyea and TSO about whether IVAW went to great lengths to menace them. The security escort, while it may at times have grown large, was there at my request, given that the bloggers themselves raised concerns about their security and asked what the Winter Soldier response would be. My intention in providing them with a security team was to ensure that they would not feel threatened or harassed in any way-to provide for their peace of mind.

I, and I alone, made the rules for the bloggers. There was never any threat of ejection if they published 'everything'. The only request I made about their disclosure was not to publish individual details of the members of the audience, as we had active duty servicemembers who were not IVAW members in attendance, some of which did not agree idealogically but wished to attend.

And I think if Mr Viges has gotten religion, that he really needs to go back and re-read the Bible and check out the parts where God destroys his enemies. I'm thinking the story of Sodom and Gomorrah for one. The Bible is replete with stories of destroying enemies. I don't know for sure but I don't remember reading the Soldiers chasing Moses and his people getting thrown life preservers when the waters came together again!

Mr Viges sounds more like a convenient Christian than anything else. What would Jesus do Mr Viges? Probably forgive you. What would God do?? That's an entirely different question.

That said, I submit that Hart Viges should be charged with treason.

Besides the American lives he probably cost look at the Iraqie lives he cost when he let the enemy get away. According to his own accounts of what was going on in Iraq at the time, his very act of letting the man with the RPG get away, caused the death of more civilians! Certainly that terrorist would have holed up in a civilian school or church or home and fired at our troops later. Then we would return fire. The ensuing fight probably killed a number of civilians. Those families can thank Hart Viges for his cowardice in the face of the enemy.

Sorry this happend to you Hart Viges. But don't smear the rest of us to try to justify your pain and guilt.

Hart, Jesus was not a Soldier. But, I do know that Jesus would have held it against you to kill a man trying to kill you. What does "love your enemy" mean to me? It means forgiving the people that tried to kill me but gave up instead. It means putting them out of their misery by shooting to kill, not shooting to maim or injure. Loving my enemy means saying a prayer for his soul as I send it to hell. I love my enemy when I do everything in my power to convince him we don't WANT to kill him, but we will if we have to. Loving my enemy means that I won't take out my anger on their family if I am forced to kill them. Loving my enemy means I will not desecrate the body I just put a bullet through. Loving my enemy means that I will treat their wounds if my aim is not true and they live through my assault. I will do everything in my power once they are demobilized to see that they get the care they need. Loving my enemy means respecting their women and children by not subjecting them to embarrassment by dragging their dead husbands body through the streets or plastering their bloodied image across television screens across the globe.

Any more brilliant questions? I've got one. What does it mean to love your fellow Soldiers? Simple. Kill the guy that wants to kill them, especially when you have your "sights on their chest." You don't let them go to live another day to kill. I hope this thought eats away at your mind until the day you die! What would Jesus do? He would forgive you as well because he's perfect. One day, I can only hope to be just like him. Until then, I'm an imperfect man and I find you dispicable. I can only continue to pray for the softness of heart to forgive you for adding to the American body count.
