WELCOME WVNN LISTENERS!!

Carrie and Jason Swartout just wanted to do what they do any other time there is an anti-war rally: proclaim their support to the troops and provide an opposing opinion. What they didn't want was to literally get physically assaulted by the "peaceful" anti-war, protesters. Not only were Carrie and Jason assaulted, the peaceniks turned their rage on their 14-year old son.

This past Saturday, the Swartout family attended a counter protest organized by Richard McVay in Edinboro, PA. Richard McVay is the founder of the Erie Iraq Campaign, dedicated to ending the war. The "protest" was comprised of approximately ten college students (SDS?), a couple professors and a group of Hillary Clinton supporters.

Their 14-year old son, Andrew, went to the protest site to videotape some of the displays at the protest and found out quickly he wasn't welcome. The hippies began getting verbally aggressive, telling him that he can't film their protest (in a public place!). Jason and Carrie went over to make sure he was okay when things got ugly.

"One girl attacked me, which turned into two girls attacking me," said Carrie in an email to me. "Jason pulled one off of me and then he was attacked and held down by 4-5 people getting punched in the head," she continued. "Meanwhile, Andrew pulled the other girl off me and then she kicked me in the head with a great big boot."

This is the mentality of these "peaceful" groups. It's okay to be violent, as long as it's against Americans and not terrorists, insurgents, or ruthless dictators. But, McVay's heroes didn't stop there.

Carrie says, "I called the cops and while we were waiting on them the girl that kicked me in the head went over to Andrew (14 years old) and punched him right in the face. My 12, 9, and 7 year olds were standing across the street witnessing the whole thing. Here's the kicker. The cops watched the video at the scene and no arrests were made. One of the cops was very aggressive toward us."

These weren't light taps or playful punches. Carrie has knots coming up all over her head and Jason has scratch marks on his face. One of the hippies also crushed his glasses when they fell off his face.

Retired Colonel Harry Riley, one of the founders of Eagles Up, sent a letter to the Edinboro Borough Manager, Taras (TJ) Jemetz, about this incident and was sent the following response:

From: "T.Jemetz"

Subject: RE: Iraq War Veteran and Family Assaulted!

Sir,

Thank you for your inquiry.

The matter is under investigation. The DA is being consulted regarding
possible charges against the people involved.

Borough Manager

We shall see. I'll believe it when I see it. I've included his address if you'd also like to address this issue as an freedom-loving American.

The police returned their camera today and they are preparing their video report of the event. Please help send this to as many media folks as you know. Pass it along and share it on your blogs. If you'd like to contact Carrie or Jason about this incident, let me know offline. Once I get the video, I'll post for all to see!

And this shocks you? You had first hand knowledge of what the "peace" loving people can do to kids of anything 'anti' of what they are doing. This is why i don't let you take our kids to them anymore!!! Still the same, people like that make me want to go up and knock the crap out of them, consequences be darned.

  2. Tracy says:

    You have mail CJ.

Stories like this make me want to cry (and make me angry at the same time)!

  3. This is disgusting, I hope the peace thugs are charged.

  4. Mark says:

Notice how he doesn't say which people.

  5. Ryan says:

I'm sorry that their son was pulled into this. I hope that they get justice.

  6. Skye says:

Everyone has a right in this nation to voice their opinion in public, and everyone has the same right to disagree.

No one has the right to hit those who state a differing opinion.

after being kicked in D.C. last year at a rally, I am not surprised and forget "peace, love and lets get high!!!" these are very evil and cutthroat. the "ole lady" who kicked me, and I pushed her into the bushes in front of congress.and then she wanted to press charges. but the power of the people who surrounded me and talked to the police. and the woman was going to be arrested.than she backed off. but they hit a father who had just lost his son in IRaq and knocked him to the ground.
so beware America ,this is not your mothers "hippie"

Why, Mizu? 14-year olds have every right to videotape these loons without being assaulted. You're right: karma is a hard teacher and you'll find that out soon enough.

What the hell are you going on about? HE WAS THERE you dumbass! That's how his glasses got broken by some hippie thug as he was trying to defend his wife and kid. The kid went across the street ON HIS OWN to PEACEFULLY AND LEGALLY film some of the protest stuff.

You either have an incredible lack of reading comprehension, you are a complete prick. Possibly both. Sod Off ya Wanker.

To the families, there better damn well come something of this. Not only should there be arrests, but the rude officer should be disciplined and possibly fired. If nothing happens i would seriously look into a big fat lawsuit. It seems that nowadays that's the only way to get any justice.

  14. becky says:

Ok, are you gonna ask for help in replacing his glasses like you did with the van window?

Also you know you sent your son over there to start trouble. You did not get the pity vote for the DeWalt issue,so you went somewhere else for the pity party, woe me BOO HOO.
You people need to get a life

  15. becky says:

So glad you are defending us Americans, you wimp. What comes around goes around. Cry over this too, just like you did when the 82 year old lady kicked you.. HA HA HA your a joke.

  16. Mizu says:

These guys go out of their way to create tense situations. Some one was bound to lose their cool eventually. Since their goal was to make someone loose their cool why send your children in to that?
And…as in all things there are three sides to this…Jason's side…The hippys side…and the truth.
Jason is constantly looking for this kind of trouble. I should hope your not surprised that he found it.

  17. Ryan says:

"Since their goal was to make someone loose their cool why send your children in to that?"

Mizu, are you sure about that? I don't think there is enough evidence to prove that Jason sent his son there. I am sure his son went on his own. More or less, that still doesn't justify why Jason's glasses got broken and that his son was punched in the face. None of these things would justify assault.

  18. dcat says:

Reading this just got me a bit more angry!

It made me realize that the peaceniks really hate this country! They need to move to the Middle East with the Taliban!

Take em for everything they have!!!

    Fire the dean!

  19. anonymous says:

Alright, as the so-called "hippies" happen to be MY AUNTS, and I am probably one of few people in this country who know the entire story, and not these "Gathering of Eagles" cult-fucks who pose themselves as victims to gain (notoriety? money?). Mr. Jason Swartout happened to have grabbed one of the "dirty hippies" (I spit on everyone who will use this phrase— I'm not calling him a sleazy, capitalist prostitute, which is exactly what I think of him; I do not see this man as a soldier.) first. They fought back. And, for the record, the Swatouts have posted many a blog insulting my aunts artwork, and stating death threats. So before you judge incorrectly and write them off as unAmerican, figure out a side of the story that doesn't involve the Swartouts playing Suzie-fucking-victim. Find one that tells the truth. Peace facists, my ass. We need more Americans like my "scumbag" aunts.

  20. anonymous says:

And may I add that the Swartouts' oragnaization, "Gathering of Eagles" happens to partake in much antagonization and stalking of peace protesters? These people are more insane than they will show the media. This is why I have no support for the army. Look at what our veterans do. :]

  21. Brad says:

Reading through the blogs, it's amazing how folks can be so sidetracked from the goal that was intended for both the peace protesters and also the protesters that support the war. I was there on 4/22/08 it's sad to see the outrage. The bitterness that The pro-war testers have lashing out at the peace protesters. Each side has two political agendas that we must agree that we want our troops to stay alive and come home healthy to enrich their families lives.
All Americans should should want this for our troops. I myself support and hold the upmost respect for everything; the troops have done and are still doing, at the same time. I am antiwar, and my believes, is that the goal in sight, should be to bring them on safely and with minimal harm done to our troops not only physically as possible. I watch Fox news tonight and watched a one sided view point. I have the other DVD video that shows exactly what happened. It shows who had physical contact first image shows who defended themselves. And this DVD will surface soon enough, and all will see the truth. However my one in last point is this young gentleman, that is 14 years old age. Age is a number, and he very well knows it. He's also approximately 6 foot tall. He also provokes. Not only with his camera, but with his mouth at the same token. No one should touch them, and that was never done. His father with his big mouth is how this could all created. into the individual that was on Fox tonight, singing the blues to Bill O'Reilly asking where the sign went and how it got into the street is when her husband leaned up against his leg while he was picking on a guy in a wheelchair trying to get the gag a wheelchair to hit him. I am this man. In any event, it's a sad occurrence, both sides have their political agenda, and it should be respected as law-abiding citizens from both parties.

    Peace

  22. Brad /Sociology Major says:

Not only with his camera, but with his mouth at the same token.left out one small part. Is this 14-year-old, which is videoed was jumping over and punching two little girls in her head. But however, they are one he won 22, but they weigh 105, 110.this boy's action was just as bad and was trying to get his shots in as well.
So let's not betray using this little 14 year old. not true. He is very aggressive with his mouth and his punches, and no one was hold them down. No one was punching him.

In any event, if come to a protest both sides should be more than willing to share information for understanding each party side not saying it's going to work. If you feel hostility, and you take a walking cooldown. Or that's when you notice separate. But hey, that's just my opinion.

    Peace
