Promotion and Travel
May 10th, 2008 by Marcus
Last Thursday marked a very important day in my career as a United States Marine. I was promoted to the rank of Sergeant! My parents and in-laws were in town for the baptism of the baby, so the promotion came with perfect timing. This is the first promotion my parents have been able to attend, and I can't express how awesome it was to be pinned by my dad and Anna. I could tell my dad was very honored when I asked him to help pin me.
This past Sunday I departed my lovely home and boarded a big ole jet plane for MCRD San Diego. I'm here for some training and will be in town until the middle of June. You San Diego readers are welcome to shoot me an email and we'll see if we can get together. Next weekend is already reserved for a very close and awesome friend, but I'm free the rest of the time I'm here. My address is over on the sidebar.
I hope all of you are having a good summer so far. I've seen reports of some horrible weather in various spots in the country. I hope you and your families were weren't (oops, sorry about that!) struck by the storms. Everyone take care!

Congrats Marcus!!
Congratulations on the promotion!
Now, I've got to ask, why would you hope that we were struck by the storms?
"I hope you and your families were struck by the storms."
Congratulations Marcus! I'm proud of you and I know the promotion was more than earned.
Congrats, Marcus! Enjoy your time in SD.
I know I've told you privately, but I want to publicly congratulate you! Sergeant is a big deal in the Army, so I'm sure it means a lot to you as well. You're a fine example of a Marine and I know that your Marines are in good hands.
As for the weather, we had some tornado warnings on Thursday and had to take shelter, but it was a few miles north of us.
Congratulations Marcus on both the promotion and the baptism of your little one. I'm so happy that your family was able to be there to share in both events.
You had to bust your hump and put in a lot of work to earn that promotion, Marine! I know the pride I felt when my son made Sergeant. Your father must have been just as proud … and to be asked to pin you … priceless.
Have a great big OohRah on me Sergeant!

Congratulations Marcus on the promotion! I'm glad that your folks could be there to celebrate with you!
Nice Marcus, I know you will continue to do a good job.
Oh yes, I think this sentence has a typo "I hope you and your families were struck by the storms."
Congrats on both events. The world will be in good hands.

I still say it took 'em long enough to take the training wheels off! *grin*
Congratulations! How wonderful your parents could be there too. Keep up the good work. We appreciate you!!
Congratulations Marcus, "They" say the Marine Corps is run by its Sergeants.
