I liked the song (and video) so I went to download it. My favorite part of the download is the disclaimer at the bottom.

"*by giving your information you are not singing up for the ARNG" LOL Pretty sure they wouldn't want me! While I'm in better shape than when you met me (20 lbs down! whoot!) I've got a ways to go!

Thanks for sharing the song. Kid Rock seems to be very supportive of the troops.

  2. LL says:

    Ok, that totally f'ing ROCKED.

    Thanks, CJ!

  3. Bad a** song, that did rock! American Warrior!

  4. Lisa says:

I totally love this sond, my daughter is in the Army and this is totally her song, shes out there for her country…….

  5. Ky Woman says:

That was soooo Kid Rock! I know he has taken many trips to the 'Sandbox and the Suck'. Very supportive of OUR Guys and Gals…

    Another great video, CJ.

    Thanks.

  6. sue says:

    AWESOME!!!

  7. Carmen says:

Love the song, love the video- but didn't see a single female in the video, wish they hadn't forgotten about us WOMEN who serve too.

  8. Crystal Ryan says:

Love the song.. One of the best out there I would have to say, not matter what style of music you listen to..

  9. Wade says:

Nascar, Kid Rock, how can you go wrong, I am gonna join up tomarra! Who Would Jesus Bomb?

  10. This is the most awesome video that's been made in years. I have 3 nephews in the military and this should be the Army's National song. With Kid Rocks vocals and Dale Jr. participating just makes it that more special. Again great video and thanks to all our troops serving for our great country.

  11. Mike says:

Loved the video. My wife is no fan of Kid Rock, but when I explained how he supports the troops, she said that is at least one redeeming quality he has.

  12. Barbara says:

IT'S ABOUT TIME!!! BEEN WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO SHOW WHY THIS WAR IS IMPORTANT. SUPPORTING YOUR TROOPS MEANS SUPPORTING THE WAR. ITS BLACK AND WHITE THERES NO INBETWEEN.

  13. Jessica says:

this song is the best i have seen i'm 14 years old and i'm in Rotc as my choice I didn't have to to me this song is awesome and runs the adrenaline in me!! Go marines!

  14. Tim says:

Kid Rock is white trash. I appreciate his trying to connect with soldier, but are you serious? Is this song the best he could do? Seriously? Are we going to stop a convoy in a crowded area to kick a soccer ball to a litte boy? Freakin retarded.

  15. eric says:

Whoa, get a grip, Tim….. Why did you even bother to watch, or listen to the song. It obviously has nothing to do with you. You are probably out in the streets burning a flag, and following the lead of the protesters on the street beacause you have no s@ck of your own.

  16. Will D says:

I saw this GREAT video played during the previews before a movie in a theatre in Santa Monica, CA. As soon as it was over some idiot yelled "THAT SUCKED, QUIT SHOWING THE BABY KILLERS" Almost everyone in the theatre cheered him.A bunch of SHEEP.I stood up and told him to shut his face and like all idiots he never said a word back. I am stunned that so many people here dont support the troops. I am ashamed to live in this city after that.

  17. Sergio says:

I LOVE what this song stands for…
It stands for how "So Few of Us Have the GUTS to RISK OUR OWN LIFE for the RIGHT THINGS"…
My Cousin & a Nephew are out there… Both of them LOVE to have support rather than listenning to these buttwipes complain of how this country is messed up….
    GET A CLUE…
ITS YOUR FAULT! GET OFF YOUR BUTT & Do SOMETHING, LIKE CONTRIBUTE !!!! NOT SO HARD!!

  18. Don says:

As a Canadian infatry reservist I can relate the video rocks!!!

  19. Carl says:

I'm sorry, but that was so lame. I'm not disrespecting the troops or anything, but I was laughing at how cheesy that was. Just my opinion, sorry if you're offended.

  20. jim.tanksley says:

GREAT song and respectful of our soldiers in all branches of service.

Toby Keith has held the market on patriotic songs that show respect for our military but Kid Rock's just stepped in along side Toby.

Definitely not a song for the Democrat party.

  21. Marsha says:

Doesn't anyone listen to those lyrics?? "If you are not gonna fight get out of the way?" Is that the level America has stooped to? I have many friends in Iraq and Afganistan and their experiences are ones of pain and regret. Not that happiness that is shown in this ridiculous video. This is more government propaganda made to blind us to the truth. America is a mockery of all that is good and true.

  22. Kelly says:

Right on Marsha! This stupid video glorifies war, makes it look like a movie. It is no longer a movie when you lose your life or a limb. We are NOT fighting for our freedom in Iraq. Some of you don't want to hear that, but it's true. If you don't like that… that's just too damn bad… Welcome to America!

  23. FoolSuffered says:

    Marsha,
Nations that LEAD the world need to be decisive, don't mistake decisive action with simplicity. You've swallowed the leftist propaganda that says, "nothing is exceptional about America." To extrapolate your personal experiences onto the entire population of military personnel is an argument by generalization, illogic and fallacious. Your friends don't represent the whole of the vets who have served overseas.
Marsha, what is the TRUTH? Just curious.

  24. FoolSuffered says:

    Kelly,
This video recognized the sacrifices given daily by men and women the world over, I don't like your opinion, however WAR and the THREAT OF WAR is the only reason you have the right to say what you do. What are we fighting for in Iraq if not freedom? Sure it isn't our freedom at stake, it is that of a fledgling nation trying to thrive in a den of wolves. Quit being so self-centered.

  25. Clancy says:

    Fools,

Can't people be against our involvement in Iraq without being against the troops? I'm a little sick of being classified as being a mindless stooge of the leftist propoganda machine. My heart and respect goes out to anyone in uniform and what they are trying to accomplish both in Iraq, Afgahnistan, and around the world. But I do not support the Iraq conflict. Iraq had nothing to do with any attack on us and we are naive to think that our presence will restore a "democracy" to that country. Just curious.. What do you think "victory" means for the USA in Iraq?

  26. Dorothy says:

Clancy, you had the best response of anyone, I guess because this is exactly how I feel. What really makes me mad however is that I had to be subjected to a pro war trailer not once but twice. I have the right to feel anyway about this war that I want, no one should have the right to make me watch something I did not pay for or want to watch!!

  27. Clancy says:

    Dorothy,

I feel your pain. When I first saw this video I was with some kids who's dad was in the Guard and I saw it through their eyes. They really enjoyed it. By the 10th time I saw it I was getting pretty annoyed. After all it is just a paid add for the Guard.. not unlike the Coke commercials that bombard us through most previews. I'm fine with people who like Kid Rock and the tune.. I just hope our peers can feel free to debate our roll in the world without fear of being labeled.

  28. CJ says:

    Clancy/Dorothy,

Yes, it is possible to support the troops and not the war. It's just rare that anyone actually proves it. For example, HOW do you support the troops while not supporting the war? I have a heard a lot of people SAY it, but very few people actually DO it.

  29. Clancy says:

Proves it? What do you mean.. Like a yellow ribbon magnetic thingy on my care. How about working my ass off so that my employees in the guard get their job back when they return. How looking them in the eye, shaking their hand and thanking them for their sacrifice.

"support" means alot more than cheerleading.

  30. Jim says:

It kills me how many sheepole there are out there. The media is a bunch of fools. All they do is deal out lies, and twisted half truths. If it wasn't for those so called "murdering bastards", we all would be in a situation like the people in China, Turkey, Afghanistan, ect. There are a few bad apples in the military, but overall, they are all A1 in my book. If you don't like America, then get the hell out. Screw you and the camel you came in on.
I thank God every day for these guys and gals who serve so we can sit and act like nothing is going on but our small petty lives. God bless the troops!!!

  31. snow says:

    Jim,

The camel comment gave away your prejudice.

You DO know what the word means?

  32. rf says:

I support the troops. Although I've never been in combat, I'm old enough to have had a draft card. I'm a physician and have had many former soldiers as patients.
To state the obvious, we're again at war. (It's sobering to study history and observe that since out independence, the US is one of the most waring nations on the planet – for whatever the reasons – it's fact.)
The Warrior video is thought provoking – on some levels, disturbing. We're going to have to abandon the idea of policing the planet. Outside of the fact that it's philosophically incorrect, we simply can't AFFORD it. If you don't believe that, google the military budget (including the cost of military advertisement), national debt, the pending Wall Street bailout, and the global value of the dollar, and do the math. If you're still not convinced, perhaps it will dawn on you as you're working well into your 70's.
In a perfect world, the UN would be more effective and assume this role.
I like rock, but could care less about Kid Rock. If you're familiar with his bio, he's hardly a hero figure. I suppose Dale Jr is in it to capture the Nascar demographic recruit. I can't find much on the net regarding Dale Jr and any pro – military or veteran activity otherwise. Therefore, the thought of our youth being moved to enlist by these two celebs is less than satisfying.
Lastly, I think the images of the troops on patrol are insulting or demeaning to those who put their lives on the line in a combat zone. Sure, they would never show actual battle scenes, but really, soccer balls on the street???!!!

  33. [...] I caught an early evening showing. The theater was not packed, but far from empty. After a National Guard commercial played, there was a round of applause. I had never experienced that before. Only two sneak previews [...]

  34. [...] across the country. While searching for the video online, I was stunned to find how many people like the video and its message. Dissenters on message boards are accused of being hippie left-wingers who are unpatriotic and [...]

  35. anonymous says:

I am a two time Iraq war veteran and I am highly opposed to the war.

I am also a fan of music and am highly opposed to kid rock.

FYI – I think I have been supported much more effectively by protesters than I ever have by war supporters.

AND, making some crappy video doesn't help vets get things they really need, like healthcare to treat war related injuries and illnesses, education, and other things that help them to transition OUT of the military. Try looking up some statistics on homeless veterans, veterans with PTSD, and veterans who have attempted or successfully committed suicide upon their return. You may be surprised. What are you doing to support them? Cheering on Kid Rock?

  36. CJ says:

Hey, "anonymous". How have you been more "effectively" supported by protesters than "war supporters"? In what ways have both contributed to your support? What health care are you not getting that Kid Rock could better provide to you? Also, what are YOU doing to support those guys? Don't come in my house breaking dishes without bringing me glue! Kid Rock makes music. He gives free concerts to troops. Yes, I cheer him on to that goal. He's not a surgeon, so he needs to stay out of the hospitals. He's not a psychologist, so he needs to stay out of my mind.

  37. anonymous says:

Well, people who support the war generally tend to just mouth off, like you, or sometimes send lots of useless crap and pop-tarts to deployed military personnel so that they can pat themselves on the back and say that they are "supporting the troops."

Many war protesters, including veteran protesters, have done significant lobbying to increase GI Bill benefits and extend the time limits of VA medical benefits. Many veterans have come forward to give testimonies and bear witness to atrocities they saw and experienced during war in winter soldier conferences similar to those in vietnam. They have joined together to try to create change and help support each other. I belong to one such group (www.ivaw.org). I think that this is much more important and effective than participating in a big, expensive advertisement for a war that only benefits a few people and exploits many. This is essentially all that that video is – an ad. And I'm not suggesting that kid rock enter a hospital and perform surgery, I'm just saying that I'd rather have healthcare and an education than a concert, or a war, for that matter. If you care so much, you go, because I already did, thanks.

  38. CJ says:

Well, "anonymous", if lobbying Congress is the indicator of true support, it's happening on both sides. Vets for Freedom also lobbied Congress for many of the same benefits IVAW lobbied for. I, for one, don't feel supported by people who lobby for premature withdrawal when I'm actively engaged in combat with people who want to kill me and you. But, I DO feel supported by "pro-war" and "anti-war" people who send me pop-tarts, but only if they are the iced ones. I don't feel supported by the ones without the frosting at all!

Useless crap goes a LONG way in getting my mind off what I've been doing all day to provide freedom to millions of people.

Many of your "veterans" who testified about "atrocities" they supposedly witnessed were cowards. They had NO balls to speak up at the time these atrocities were being acted out. But, they suddenly grew a pair when they got back, were out of the military, and had a microphone in front of them. That's some great personal courage for you right there!! Way to go, IVAW! By the way, I'll be debating a member of IVAW this Thursday on my podcast ( You Served ). I highly encourage you to call in! I'd love to debate you live as well. I think two against one sounds about fair when it comes to your group.

I'm still curious about why you're hiding behind your anonymity. You didn't commit some of these atrocities did you? Or are you hiding out in Canada perhaps?

For the record, you have health care and you have education. The Army provides $4500 per year plus the GI Bill. I just took my daughter to the emergency room this weekend and didn't pay a dime. I've had two surgeries and multiple sessions of physical therapy for my combat injuries and didn't pay a dime. See, I don't have to choose between a concert and those things. I get the best of both worlds with Kid Rock and my military service.

  39. anonymous says:

There is no such thing as premature withdrawal from a place that the American military shouldn't have began occupying to begin with. If people are trying to kill you, you should probably leave. Besides, if someone invaded my country and raided my house for no good reason, I would probably do the same.

In what way are you "providing freedom" to anyone? Especially if you are sitting around playing with all of the crap that people send in those care packages…providing freedom must consist of powdering your feet, doing crosswords, probably playing pocket tanks…great job. And you are doing a whole lot right now, bickering with people you don't know on the internet.

I'm sure there are a lot of things that people have trouble saying while they are still in the military due to issues like chain of command, don't ask, don't tell, and minority intimidation. Winter Soldier testimonies have been published in a book and many people discuss their reasons for not reporting these issues first hand. Some tried to no avail. I did report a rather serious sexual harassment case that went no where, and a I worked on a base with a woman who was raped at gunpoint behind a bathroom by someone in her own command who was never punished. Many people also witness war crimes and have no one to report them to because they are at the bottom of the foodchain, so to speak.

VA healthcare, until recently, was only provided for two years after the end of an active duty contract. Now it is provided for three. It is extremely inadequate and many veterans who should be diagnosed with PTSD are told that they are just having trouble adjusting so that the VA doesn't have to pay them benefits or provide them with counciling.

The Army doesn't provide the GI Bill anyway, the VA does, so get your facts straight. And good thing, because I was in the Marine Corps, not the army. I am currently using the GI Bill, which currently pays just over $1000 at the end of each month that you are in school. Next year, it will pay full tuition in state public schools in addition to a $1000 per month stipend and some extra money for books and tutoring, thanks to lobbyists and Jim Webb, not Dale Earnhardt or Kid Rock.

I never was able to take advantage of the tuition assistance that active duty personnel are supposed to be afforded because my job was actually demanding and I never would have had time to go to class since my days were usually 12 hours long, stateside.

  40. anonymous says:

CJ is also just as anonymous as "anonymous" …

  41. Troy says:

Hey Anonymous, if you don't have the balls to put your name on your posts, then you should STFU. Oh, and when you get a chance, head to the local sports store to buy some new balls.

  42. CJ says:

Anonymous, my name is CJ Grisham. I'm a First Sergeant in the United States Army stationed in Huntsville, AL. You can do a easy Google search to learn anything you want about me. I have nothing to hide. Do you? Will you show up on Thursday and debate me live about the war with your IVAW sister?

  43. anonymous says:

Dear Troy, if you don't have the balls to say "shut the [expletive deleted - CJ. This is family site.] up" perhaps you shouldn't abbreviate it either. Maybe it's because you purchased them at a sports store. I hope you kept your receipt.

Well, First Sergeant, I have better reading material than your biography, and I also have better things to do on Thursday night. I'm getting ready to take the LSATs – if I need a study break, maybe I will call, but I doubt it.

My name is Joyce Wagner, you probably will not find much if you google me, but you are welcome to try. And I am proudly without balls, thank you very much.

  44. CJ says:

Well, Joyce nice to meet you. Your balls are just more contained within your body and we give them a different name, but you have them.

And feel free to let any or all of your IVAW brothers and sisters know about the program. The more the merrier. I've been trying to directly debate anyone from IVAW in a live forum for months. No one seems to want to be tested and have to stand up for themselves in that organization (except the few who have nothing else to lose in life). Oh, and my guest. She's a decent person too, albeit a little off on her thinking.

  45. Nascar Nancy says:

WOW. I have many questions. Does this mean if I join the National Guard I get discount tickets for NASCAR? I am so excited. And If you guys like this video I would like to direct you to Kid Rocks other spicy hit video "All Summer Long". It features Mr. Rock being a real American patriot in his boat fully equipped with a real stripper pole. His depiction of Americans as Alcoholic, Racist, over-indulgent idiots really lit my fire to go sign up. Hopefully I will get one of those super sexy Confederate flag bikinis to wear on leave. We need more Americans to stand up and lead this country in the right direction!!!

  46. CJ says:

Wow, Nancy. I can't say I've heard more ignorant statement because I have. But this does come close. No one will ever accuse Kid Rock of being a "leader" in this country. If it's possible for you to check your socialism at the door, look at the song for what it is – a tribute to our National Guard Soldiers. I just rewatched the video and can't find a link or suggestion anywhere to go watch his other videos. Are you suggesting that only "perfect" Americans can support our troops? You go ahead and keep your job doing whatever it is you do that is making America great. We've got it from here. I think we'll be fine without you.

  47. stien says:

anyone have trouble downloading the song and then actually playing it? I have itunes and windows media player. I don't know how to get it in itunes and WMP says something about the file being written in codec?

  48. Jacque says:

I am a little amazed at the animosity between Americans these days. America is a country founded on God, and since the day that Adam and Eve took a bite of that apple, Human kind took it's biggest fall and war unfortunately has been a part of our history ever since. Not only war amongst the Nations, but also war within ourselves.

What we all need including myslef, is a bid dose of Humility. Someone once quoted "if two people are being completely humble, it is impossible not to get along.

Now i don't want to step on anyone's toes when it comes to religion, but we need to be praying to the one and only God Jesus Christ. I have been to many countries, those which represent the Muslim, Buddhist, and Spiritist, and i have seen and experienced a lot of things. I have seen the work of the enemy (Satan) in person. I am just a humble believer in Christ, and i pray for our nation that the wool shall be lifted from our eyes, and that our Nations truths will be found in Christ. I praise God for my Freedom that has been fought on my behalf, and i pray for the soldiers that God has a plan for them as well, I praise God that i don't have fear for my life everyday i wake up, that i can go to college, have clean running water, marry and pick my job, have equality. None of this is free. It is a gift from God that was bought for a price, and that price was Jesus Christ. He was the biggest sacrifice. I was told recently that America is the Great Toilet. Lets start one day at a time, one decision at a time, to Love one another, and stop the malicious comments about each other. Really, pick up the bible, and read the 10 commandments and see how if we at the minimum could follow these rules, how much better this place will be. Blessings, Respectfully, Jacque.

  49. Sgt Jonathan Atcitty says:

Hey Top, keep up the fight!I just love to hear ignorant uniformed liberals blab about how we should talk to people like Saddam and Kim Jong iland ask them over and over nicely to comply with international law.And be peaceful .The same ignorants that honestly believe the conflict is about al queada. And the war in iraq has anything to do with Osama Bin Laden.
About kid rock, saw him in germany before my first iraq deployment. He is doing a lot more for troop moral those pot smoking ,crystal worshopping hippies.and their bitching.

Also anonymous post oct 13.if your making only 1,000 a month obviously you never been to combat so STFU.and about your exausting 12 hr days, come fly dustoff,24/7 2 to 4 hours of sleep a day.I've only had a week and a half off in the last year and a half,no internet, phone. And I still got an education by mail.Get off your ass and stop complaining.

  50. SSG D says:

SGT Atcitty, I'm a uniformed liberal (though in your defense I think you meant uninformed which I'm not). Why does the concept of being a liberal and a troop supporter seem so incredulous? Heck, I am both a liberal and a troop supporter (and moreover an actual troop currently serving in Iraq).

Do I think Kid Rock represents Army values? Eh. I can see why they picked him for the ad campaign though and by all accounts he's shown real support for our guys. Can't vouch for Mr. Earnhardt. In fact, other than driving a car with the Guard logo and presumably paying taxes I'm not sure how he even fits in this commercial at all.

My real beef with this is the truly farcical part at about 1:44 where the good VC hops out of his truck to kick that kid the ball. In real life that might be where the IED would go off or when the little Iraqi/Afghani kids would start pelting the snot out of those idiots with rocks and hunks of brick. 100% the case everywhere? No but not too far off the mark in some parts of the country.

I get that the point there is to show, Hollywood style, that we aren't empty headed brutes willy-nilly shooting the place up and running over little kids in the process. Sorta "Hey, look! Our boys are compassionate." It's true. We are. But rather than that silliness why not show us doing stuff we actually do. Passing out humanitarian assistance packages, blankets, food, toys and yes…soccer balls? And I saw this mentioned in an earlier comment but what's up with there being no women in this?

Last thing, showing those stupid HMMVs rolling in a convoy through hostile territory with like twenty feet of dispersal in between them while the gunners collectively flag the guy in front of him is just plain dumb. Couldn't they have hired a military adviser for this? Nitpicky? Maybe a little and definitely why my wife hates watching movies with me but come on, you know?

  51. Aimee says:

Don’t knock someone for trying to do something positive even if its not up to your standards. Kid Rock, well Rocks but not as much as the people supporting are nation in the armed forces. I got the real meaning of the song/video and I appreciate those who are over seas and at home and, I appreciate Kid rock for sharing/spreading the same message. :)

  52. Ray says:

Hmm…millitary industrial complex meets entertainment industry. Pretty clever. Way to go 'kid'. We all know yo fo' real. You can sing it to the maimed vets when they come back from the pointless war you helped sign them up for.

  53. Bradley Alan Cosgrove says:

    March 16, 2009

Please e-mail me the lyrics for: National Guard Warrior. My computer will not allow me to download the song, so I'd at least like to have the lyrics. Also, if there is any way I can get a CD or DVD of the song or video, please pass on the information. I LIKE THE MUSIC AND THE LYRICS!

  54. Bradley Alan Cosgrove says:

I LOVE THE MUSIC AND THE LYRICS! PLEASE SEND ME INFORMATION ON HOW TO GET MY OWN COPY OF IT. I CAN'T DOWNLOAD IT. THANKS.

  55. Nobody wants to go to war, that's the truth, but the ones who do, do so willingly so others don't have to. To castigate our soldiers as babykillers and needless pawns is wrong, and 99% of the time, come from somebody who knows nothing about this world, only the fantasyland they come from. Our men and women are over there warding off evil, that much longer. It won't be much longer though, until the current administration waters our dollar down to nothing, destroys our national integrity, and shreds the Constitution the rest of the way. When he succeeds in shredding it, and forwarding his racism and hatred for Jews the rest of the way, it'll be LIGHTS OUT. We'll get hit by the worst terrorism this nation has ever seen, and they will rob us of our sovereignty. It's happening before your selfish eyes….and you aren't smart enough to figure it out. Give the troops a break, because they have more willpower and more balls than the wanna-be idiot lawyers on this website. You take your LSAT and stick it where the sun don't shine…..
