Roman General A Soldier and Child

August 27th, 2008 by Roman General

The reality of war has this child at the heart of the matter and oblivious to the meaning of why mommy or daddy will never come home.

How many sons and daughters have this same dilemma in their young lives? Where does laying soldiers to rest leave their families? Why do we ignore these questions?

How do we answer, "When is daddy/mommy coming home?"

Honestly, i think this post is in bad taste. And i think i will just stop and let someone else deal with it.

  2. Carole says:

I'm in full agreement with Emily.

    Great post, RG!

I find it interesting how some react to truth by simply looking the other way in disgust.

    Keep up the good work.

  4. Emily says:

I find it funny that some hold to superstitious theories when truth is staring them in the face.

I think they are important questions, and I think they are going to effect all of us differently. Some, as with Emily, they will cut at the heart because only she can know the anguish of waiting, and fearing the possibility that she will have to deal with the answers to those questions looking into the eyes of her beautiful children.

Some as with CF, who show such morbid glee at the very thought of a Soldiers death because of ignorance and political hatred.

I think that each Soldier or Marine and his/her family deal with the questions in their own way. It's a very personal issue and that is why it probably isn't discussed much RG. Forgive me, I don't know if you have children, but I think that if you do, your wife might have a totally different outlook on your questions than you do.

I agree with Emily, I don't like this post either!

  7. Chad says:

How about we tell them that they died and are gone because they were helping/protecting their country? They might not understand as young children but they will down the road. Family should surround those children along with a loving and caring community.

I think RG is trying to stir the pot. Bring it sucker!

  8. I have posted a response to the backlash from this post. I only meant to jar the general public awake, not the veterans, soldiers or their families.
