Concerned Americans Taking Action
April 14th, 2009 by Amy
I, like many others have been increasingly concerned about the direction our country is heading in. Under the democratically controlled congress and the Obama Administration, we are daily straying further away from the foundations our country was built on, and resembling more and more a socialist nation, with government assuming more control of the previously private sector, spending beyond comprehension and vastly increasing government intrusion in our lives.
Finding a way to connect with others who feel as I do was just what I needed. In Utah where I live, a large group has emerged where we study and teach our nation’s history, our Founding Fathers, and the constitution. We are learning how to get involved with our local government and use our knowledge to begin to make a difference. t really is exciting because so many people are hungry to get involved and participate in some way, to help preserve the nation we so dearly love.
Many of the problems we are facing today, were warned of by the Founding Fathers. It’s just that most people don’t truly know what they said. Their brilliance in forming this nation and setting up our government defies intellectual abilities or natural wisdom. It has been said, and I believe, the Founding Fathers of this nation were “divinely inspired”. Throughout their writings, the Founding Fathers warned against the government trying to take care of all the needs of the people, a welfare state of taking from some to give to others, and of trying to level the playing field and redistribute wealth. They warned against saddling future generations with our debt. They seemed to know the potential pitfalls future generations would face. And that is exactly where we find ourselves today, stepping right into the traps our Founding Fathers knew would come along.
Attending one of the many Tax Day Tea Parties is a great way to connect with others with similar concerns as well as to make a statement saying there are more than just a few of us who are deeply concerned about America. There is nothing more energizing than being in a crowd of patriots. It’s exciting to see people getting excited about taking action to make a difference in their nation.
This grassroots movement is being dismissed by many. They are calling us “right winged fringe” or “extremists”, but the fact is, this grassroots movement is made up of an awful lot of average, hardworking American’s who simply love their country.
Steve Leser, editor of Op Ed News went on national TV and said the upcoming Tea Parties and this “so-called grassroots movement is a sham and fraud”. Some journalists and news outlets have said they won’t be covering the Tea Parties for various reasons, one being, it’s just not news.
Of more concern is the Intelligence and Analysis report of April 7, 2009 from the Department of Homeland Security, which states “Many rightwing extremists are antagonistic toward the new presidential administration and it’s perceived stance on a range of issues, including immigration and citizenship, the expansion of social programs to minorities, and restriction on firearms ownership and use”. I don’t know about you, but the issues listed in the DHS report are precisely some of the issues I am deeply concerned about. If I read this report correctly, I, and many of you, are now officially rightwing extremists. The report goes on to talk about like-minded people recruiting, and extremist individuals who “stockpile food, ammunition and weapons”. Just to make it clear, I live in Utah where EVERYONE stockpiles food, and many have some pretty nice weapons too. Oh, and veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan, you’re not off the hook either. Homeland security will be watching you too. Apparently “disgruntled military” may associate with rightwing extremists who could “exploit their skills”. Of course the report talks quite a bit about true extremism which threatens security, but it lumps the rest of us average Joe’s right in there with them. It’s rather unnerving to read.
One reason for my passion to help preserve the integrity of our nation, is my son Cpl. Adam Galvez who was killed in Iraq on 8/20/06. He gave everything he had defending this nation against it’s enemies, and to preserve our liberty. Adam has nothing left to give for America. So now this mom is standing up for her son and her nation. I will not stand by and watch this or any administration toss aside the greatness of this nation and dismiss all the sacrifices that have been made throughout it’s history.
If we do nothing, we may not even recognize this nation in four years. It really is up to us to take a stand for what we believe in and not just wait for someone else to do it for us. To all of you who have done so much for our nation already, I thank you.
Hope to see you at a Tea Party!

Sorry. The teabaggers are a bunch of complaining idiots with too much time on their hands. Where were these people when George Bush was starting an unprovoked war with Iraq that has cost this nation so dearly? Oh, that's right, they were pointing fingers at peace loving folks who uphold the Constitution and calling them anti-American! Your post may have traction in rural Utah, but it falls on deaf ears in most of Salt Lake City.
PS. I remember being called a left-wing extremist when I stood up against the Bush disaster. Now the pendulum has swung. Get used to it – it will be a long time before the pendulum swings back, if ever, as the GOP continues to bury itself in embarrassing, pointless actions, like supporting teabaggers.
Hmm, last I checked you were WAY worst when Bush was in office, and still seem to be the same. Who are YOU, of all people to speak against the "teabaggers"?
Not to mention, you and the other liberal guys here never seem to have anything to say with respect to me VOLUNTEERING to serve in the military in order to protect what these good people are standing up for. It always seems to shut you guys up good.
Isaac I thank you for your service, and I thank you for all you sacrifice for all of us, even the terminally ignorant.
I support these rea bag parties.
I have 3 jobs. A pay a good deal in taxes.I am not a rightwing extremist. Does being pro-life, pro-mission on the Iraq/Afghanistan War and pro N.R.A. make me an extremist? I'm not even a Republican.
God bless you Amy.
I thought this column in Investor's Business
daily was superb:
Taxpayers Get Really Tea-ed Off
Tax Revolt: The Boston Tea Party helped free us from an oppressive king. This week's nationwide anti-stimulus tea party demonstrations have a tougher goal: ending the tyranny of big-spending politicians.
'If you want to stimulate the economy, you just need to reduce the taxes and regulations," Kansas real estate agent John Todd told the Wichita Eagle, explaining in the clearest terms why he is organizing one of 500 anti-stimulus "tea parties" to take place in cities and towns across America on Wednesday, April 15, Tax Day.
If that is the message heard loud and clear from this unprecedented national movement against the liberal Democratic rule in Washington, and if Republicans endorse those tax-reducing principles, then this grass-roots uprising could succeed.
What the tea parties aim to accomplish is really a much taller order than gaining independence from a tyrannical monarch and far-away parliament two centuries ago.
They are trying to persuade Congress and the states to reject what comes perfectly naturally to them: the opportunity to fritter away a fortune in other people's money, and the idea that we should spend our way out of this economic downturn.
That is not the tried-and-true means of lifting ourselves out of distress. When America suffered the worst recession since the Great Depression at the beginning of Ronald Reagan's first term of office more than a quarter-century ago, the president spurred Congress to cut income taxes across the board.
The longest, strongest expansion in history soon began, extending well beyond Reagan's two terms in office.
And when our country, already suffering from a shaky economy, was in 2001 hit by the first attacks on domestic soil since Pearl Harbor, President George W. Bush similarly rallied Congress to cut the rates of everyone who paid income taxes, as well as investment taxes.
The result was the same: a recovery generating many millions of new jobs.
But the ideology now dominating Washington sees those successful steps as capitalistic greed. As such, it was not Reagan or John F. Kennedy or Bush 43 who had it right when they cut taxes. Rather, it was Franklin Roosevelt, who may well have extended a bad recession into a full-scale collapse by using it as the rationale for a massive expansion in the size and scope of the federal government.
Or so the statists on the left believe.
In the case of today, the notion that "we have nothing to fear but fear itself" as trillions of taxpayer dollars are about to be spent is not being accepted by one and all.
Thanks, Amy, for your sacrifice to this country, for speaking up when it's easier to be quiet, and going to a Tea Party!
Good for you Amy!! I hope your movement to get people interested in the brilliance of our Founding Fathers spreads far and wide. The ignorance of some as to the damages done by the Obama Administration and this extremist Congress is just beyond belief. The ramifications are so far beyond our vision that we will probably not even know them for many years to come. Obama is not the Messiah the left said he was or thought he was. He's just a dolt who hasnt a clue.
And just what damages do you refer, sue? On what basis do you conclude that Obama is a "dolt"? Or is it that you are just a sore loser?
I don't support these Tea Parties.
Not because of what they are, but because of who is behind them.
Fox News.
Fox News disgusts me. To them, anybody with a different opinion is a traitor and a terrorist. anybody who uses Ann Coultier as a regular has got to be… never mind. I'll get worked up over her again, and I said I'd never let her do that to me again.
Fair and balance reporting. Yeah, right.
Buddy, you realize these were not organized by Fox? Fox only covered them once they learned about what was going on. Just because Fox thinks they were a good idea makes them wrong?
Bob, I was an organizer for the Huntsville Tea Party FAR earlier than Fox News caught on. This was NOT a Fox News event. And if it was, we haven't received the check yet! I hope you're not drinking this leftist Kool-aid, especially since we had a LOT of Democrats at our rally!
I signed onto our tea party after hearing about it on Facebook, long before any of the media started promoting them. The media was late joining in.
THESE THREE REPS SUM IT ALL UP regarding Janet Napolitano…
"Has this Homeland Security secretary gone absolutely stark raving mad?" Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn, said Wednesday.
"I think the appropriate thing for her to do would be to step down," Rep. Michael Burgess, R-Texas, told Fox News on Thursday.
"Janet Napolitano should resign or be fired," Rep. John Carter, R-Texas, said on Wednesday.
God bless you Amy. God bless your son Cpl. Adam Galvez . Sincerely, Tom
