White Rose ACLU attacks our Veterans…again!

June 12th, 2009 by White Rose

I really get sick and tired of what the ACLU has and is trying to do to the honor and memory of this Nations Veterans. The following is from the web site trying to save this memorial. PLEASE, go and sign the petition and help save this and all memorials to our Fallen.

The Mojave Desert Memorial Cross has stood proudly for over 75 years, honoring our American war dead. Or it was until the ACLU stepped in and got a judge to rule the memorial to World War I veterans unconstitutional. They covered the cross with a bag, and when that didn't work, they boarded it up in a plywood box. Now, they're threatening to tear down this national monument because they don't believe America should have religious imagery anywhere on public property.
Â
If they win and succeed in tearing down this monument, what's next? Imagine what could happen at the Arlington National Cemetery. Will they put bags over all the crosses that mark the graves of our fallen heroes? What about the 20-foot Canadian Cross of Sacrifice?
Â
We believe America should remember and honor her veterans; and were taking our case to the U.S. Supreme Court to tell the ACLU that they can't tear down our freedom!

The ACLU is threatening to tear down all monuments on public land that contain religious imagery. This fall, The Supreme Court will rule on whether these memorials will continue to stand for our freedoms, or if they will be removed permanently.
Â
It is our patriotic duty to stand up and tell these left-wing organizations that we won't have our freedoms boarded up or our values torn down. By signing our petition, you will be showing your support for our veterans. Your name will be added to a letter going to the veterans groups of America, thanking them for their service and letting them know you stand with them in the fight to protect our nations war memorials. Â
Â
You can also consider supporting our fight with a generous gift that will go towards our efforts to defend our freedoms at The Supreme Court. Every dollar you send will make a difference in the way that our American veterans are remembered for generations to come! Â

This is what pi**es me off. There are more people of faith in this country than people without faith, so why on God's green earth is the majority allowing itself to be trumped by the minority? People need to seriously stop bit*hing, and start doing. You are part of the problem with this world if you just gripe and don't put yourself out there. You need to stand up, be heard, and not back down! It's the silence that is wreaking havoc on all that we hold sacred.

    • Critical Facts says:

Hmmm. Or maybe the ACLU is just seeing the Constitution enforced!

      • Corpsman up 2-4 says:

It appears to me that you need to read the constitution. The establishment clause does not prevent the display of religious symbols (although in this case the Cross is not a religious symbol; but, a symbol of the veterans' who died in World War I). The Bill of Rights allows for religous activities as long as the government does not try to establish one religion for this Nation. Your history lessons seem to be lacking. As was the lessons missing for those who state that a symbol represents the establishment of religion. Sorry guys but the ACLU does not represent what the Constitution represents.

        • Critical Facts says:

Hmmm#2. I am always tickled when someone comes along and says what the Constitution says and doesn't say following two hundred years plus of argument before the Supreme Court on that very subject.

          Go back to sleep, Corpsman!

      • Derek of Hesperia says:

Do you think we should put plywood boxes over the crosses and star's of David at Arlington National Cemetery?

I live in the Mojave Desert not too far from the memorial in question. It's in the middle of NOWHERE. Probably less than two dozen cars a week pass by.

The man who brought this to the ACLU's attention lives a thousand miles away in Oregon. He said he "might" be driving through the desert some day and didn't want to be offended by seeing a cross erected on public land. He's Roman Catholic for cryin' out loud!

Go to the link above and watch the video. After watching it I think you might agree that the ACLU is being quite trivial in this case (as usual).

      • CJ says:

And how does this violate the Constitution, CF? How is the state pushing religion here? I'm offended that there is a box on a hill. Can the ACLU please help me get it removed?

For over 70 years this memorial stood with no issues. Then the jackass liberal weenies at the ACLU come in and destroy a Memorial that most people NEVER see. And complete and utter morons like CF think that's okay. You despise me. You really do.

      • Joshua says:

I am amazed at the lack of courage and understanding of many of my fellow Americans. The Constitution does not protect us from religion any more than it protects us from the press. As a matter of fact, you might want to look up the Trinity Decision from the 1800s. The SCOTUS took ten years to decide what rights under the Constitution we Christians have. The verdict heavily favored freedom of religion and we have the right, as announced by the Constitution and affirmed by SCOTUS, to prosylite, preach, and promote religion and religious symbols without infringement by the government. Look up the literally hundreds of religious symbols including the Ten Commandments and the Ark of the Covenant in giant engravings in two of the highest, most important buildings in our government. Look at the state constitution of each and every single state in the union and how God is mentioned there. Our soldiers are not fighting so that you cannot teach me or promote your religion, they are making sure that we can each freely practice whatever religion we choose with no fear of government reprisal. If you doubt this, I suggest you find a soldier and ask him yourself. And next time you talk to God, know that the soldiers are the ones making sure you can do that freely

        • Critical Facts says:

Trinity Decision …??? Do you mean the decision roundly denounced by none other than Justice Scalia? You, Josh, are a victim of over reliance on dicta; but do not worry, as many fall in error for the same reason.

      • Scott says:

Critical Facts where do you live? Because it seems that your town is missing their village idiot. The Constitution means nothing to the Anti-Christian Loyahs Union. They have their own liberal agenda. The next time you look at a flag, remember the sacrifices of countless American Servicemen and woman who have kept it flying. The ACLU hates this country, they hate God, they hate the very ideals under which this country was founded.

  2. Jack Neilson says:

I am a Canadian veteran. I am not a Christian. The memorial cross is sacred to all soldiers and veterans regardless of faith or country of origin. The ACLU is insulting to those who have had the fortitude to serve and for what? Political correctness. How many non-Christian servicemen and veterans would feel insulted by this cross. Back off ACLU!

  3. DRM says:

The ACLU kind of lost me when it went all out to defend the N.A.M.B.l.A. web site(a chid pedophile group). When asked the question that how in any way can you condone a site that promotes sex with children. THe ACLU lawyers answer was a simple "whats wrong with that".

  4. Fearless says:

The ACLU was founded by Roger Baldwin with the express purpose to undermine the Judeo-Christion foundation of America. He was a card carring member of the Communist party and he wanted to see our govermnent replaced by a communist one.

    • Critical Facts says:

      Fearless:

Your assertion that Baldwin founded the ACLU with the express purpose that you state is a wives' tale of the right-wing. The tale has no basis, whatsoever, in fact.

Next time, do some research before posting such ridiculous statements.

      • Doc Hal says:

Listen to the pot callin' the kettle black!

      • CJ says:

CF, instead of spewing more insanity and ignoring true debate how about addressing the questions posed to you already? How does this historical monument in honor of our veterans violate the Constitution?

  5. brat says:

WTH is wrong with the ACLU? I also belive it doesn't matter if only one car goes by this or any other memorial to our troops, is irrelevant.

The fact is, as Jack Neilson said above:

"…The memorial cross is sacred to all soldiers and veterans regardless of faith or country of origin… "

I'll be posting this, and linking to you. This CANNOT stand.

  6. Patriots! For every monument, dedicated to our veterans past or present, that the ACLU threatens, we will place TWO memorial monuments in our Virtual Veterans Memorial Village. It's a small gesture from our groups, that represent 129 organizers leading local groups ranging from 50 to 700+ patriots around the nation. (Approximately 15,000 total members)

The first such Memorial is up with ground breaking on July 4th for the Village and the second monument (A white cross on a hill overlooking the Veterans Children's' Park.

    See: meetup.com/Me...al_Memorial/

  7. Isaac says:

Beyond disgusting. And that goes for your response too CF.

  8. Rich Carter says:

The ACLU should be bulldozed into the ground. They are just another progressive establishment designed to siphon money from the citizens under the guise of some fictional nobel causes

  9. Spread Butter says:

OUR Bill of Rights PERMITS religous activities on public property as long as the government does not try to establish ONE religion (THE GLOBAL WARMING FOLKS ARE BECOMING A RELIGION IN MY OPINION ) .

    • NY-David says:

The Bill of rights gives no such permission. It merely doesn't allow the government to establish a religion.
As for your concern about global warming becoming a religion, I don't feel it is. Its simply a responsibility of everyone to improve the earth and leave it better then we found it. You may disagree with me, but improving the earth is a good thing.
      NY-David

  10. Crystal Bolt says:

I am appalled, but sadly not surprised, to learn of this horrendous decision by a judge who, within the boundaries of our laws, has chosen to cover up and then ultimately remove a memorial because it is in the shape of a cross. Veterans who fought for our freedoms are, after 75 years, being denied theirs. Incredible! What would they think of their country now? We have to stop this before all the memorials are taken down. We have to make it known that our veterans deserve the memorials that are in jeopardy. I will do everything I can to help with that goal. This is not about religion or religious symbolism but about honoring all veterans.
I am making it my mission to spread the word via the virtual world I am associated with. With the help of our 129 Organizer members, many of whom are veterans, the word will be spread about this travesty. In addition, I will be designing and placing a cross which is in honor of our war dead and not a relgious symbol, which has been a tradition in our country up to now.

  11. Donna says:

Thank You Fearless for stating who founded the ACLU! A Communist that didn't believe in God, well that explains it all right there! We must not let the ACLU rule our lives and our country!!

  12. bean says:

Baldwin was an open admirer of the early Soviet Union, and once wrote, "I am for socialism, disarmament and ultimately for abolishing the state itself as an instrument of violence and compulsion. I seek the social ownership of property, the abolition of the propertied class and sole control by those who produce wealth. Communism is, of course, the goal." For those who wish to demonize the work of the ACLU, that is enough to damn Baldwin to hell. Of course, his sympathies for the USSR were expressed long before Stalin's vast atrocities against humanity were known, and like most Americans, Baldwin later turned against the USSR with a passion. During the Cold War he wrote a book about the faults and failures of the Soviet Union, and enacted an ACLU rule that barred board members who had been affiliated with the Communist Party, or with any group that either supported or was supported by any totalitarian government. He was never a member of any political party, and preferred to describe himself apolitically as a reformer or heretic. At the conclusion of World War II, Baldwin was invited by General Douglas MacArthur to tour Japan and offer expert advice on creating democratic institutions, and in 1981 he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Honor by Jimmy Carter.

  13. Steven Potts says:

Just MHO, but I do not find the "support" from a General who wouldn't obey lawful orders and almost got us in to WWIII or a president who could not get his people home from Iran, whether we are talking about the embassy or that abortive rescue plan, high praises for an avowed believer in communism if not the Soviet Union.

  14. [...] ACLU attacks our Veterans…again! [...]

  15. Eric says:

This is when I learned the truth about ACLU. About 20 years ago some soldiers at Fort Riley, Kansas were being denied access to a popular bar in Manhattan, Kansas. The owner did not want soldiers in his bar (off duty and in civilian clothes.) Some soldiers asked ACLU to step in and defend their civil liberties. ACLU said no. Why? ACLU agenda is not to help Americans with civil liberty issues. They have their own agenda. They are never to be trusted.

  16. NY-David says:

The difference between these two memorials is that Arlington is a cemetary and this memorial is not. The moronic statement the "Save Our Memorials" people say about "What about Arlington" is nothing more then fodder for fund raising.
Personally, I hope the judge makes the guy in Oregon prove potential duress and maybe he can find a better use of his pathetic life.
ACLU once had some loftly goals, but I've been disappointed in them over the last few years and have turned in my card.
The founder's statement was from some 70 years ago when we didn't have the benefit of seeing the rise and fall of the USSR. Israel was communist at its founding. Early Labor Movement was funded by groups that supported communism.

    • Critical Facts says:

      Thanks David for some clarification.

Too many of the Bushies are still lead so readily down the path of stupid and silly!

      • sue05 says:

Id rather be stupid and silly than a horses ass. Don't you ever get tired of your ignorant agenda? You contribute nothing of substance to any posts, yet you never fail to remind CJ that you contributed to the cookie drive. (Me personally, Id tell you to shove your donation because it wouldnt be worth it to me to listen to your disgraceful reminders.) You never answer any questions that are posed to you and all you can talk about is Bush/Cheney. It is not surprising that someone like you supports the ACLU and thinks there's nothing wrong with their eroding of the values of America because you yourself readily help them.

      • mickey says:

CJ band me if need be.

        CF you are a complete 100% F*^&()*& A*&%&*%$
go get a life elsewhere. You ()*^&(*Y fool!

      • NY-David says:

My clarification was just to keep the ship upright. What the ACLU has turned into is a disgusting afront to what it used to be.
        NY-David

  17. Scott says:

As a retired US Army combat veteran with 4 combat tours under my belt, I would love to declare war on the ACLU and evaporate them from the face of the earth. They would not be able to spew their ultra liberal, anti-American, anti-military venom were it not for the ultimate sacrifices of over 1 million American servicemen and women. There are no words in our language to describe what a pathetic, despicable and utterly worthless group of people that they are.

  18. Cindy says:

Freedom OF Religion, not Freedom From Religion.

ACLU makes me want to vomit.

  19. Despooina Ikaris says:

I am horrified by the increasing attacks from the ACLU and too many other self-serving, un-American, anti-American groups to destroy our "Sweet Land of Liberty". Every memorial to those who have fought for our Freedom – including my late brother Nick, Captain in the Field Artillery, who survived the worst battles of the Pacific – must be honored. No such memorial should ever be torn down to cconform with a false interpretation of our laws and values. Our Freedom – as Jefferson wrote – comes from GOD, and reign over every inch of Amrican soil. No governmental edict or self-serving, myopic bureaucrat has any right or authority – including the Godless, anarchic ACLU – to tear down such a precious memorial dedicated to our veterans and the eternal values for which they fought and died.

  21. summa says:

God Bless the USA…God Bless her military and all those that died so that we remain FREE!! ACLU can kiss my azz! I stand behind our veterans and support our troops. Who are we? Stand up! Be an American and don't snivel crying it's religious and unconstitutional! Who would you pray to before facing an enemy? Who do we pray to before "the big game, race, surgery, or a sick/dying relative, etc?" Tsk Tsk, spank, spank ACLUand the judge! for shame…

  22. Rick246 says:

I think the Legion and VFW members and any other vet organization in that area should march out to the memorial on July 4th and tear the box apart and once again allow the people of this nation to view the cross dedicated to the brave soldiers who died in service to their country.

    • Derek of Hesperia says:

There are a lot of veterans that live out here. This is a VERY pro military community (from Lancaster to 29 Palms, and Barstow to Hesperia). Don't be surprised when that box gets removed. I doubt our county sheriffs would do anything about it either. Heck, they'd probably loan you a crowbar.

  23. mickey says:

this may be my last post but I too want to Vomit. ACLU (*&()^)*^()_*+_*

  24. Ryan says:

    Signed the petition.

  25. brat says:

Just have to say I agree with every word Mickey said. Soooooooo much more eloquent than I am. :)

  26. TheOpionator says:

I'm not a veteran. And I'm not a lawyer. But here's my take on the issue.

Someplace along the line, Courts have been allowed to create Law by choosing (or not) to review issues where a Law doen't exist.

ACLU (and the like) attempt to use this procedure to create law via "precedence".

What would any sane lawyer join the ACLU ? For FAME, a narcissistic pursuit.

Wonder why Courts can't opion "There is no law, so put it on a ballot for the people."

I suppose this is too simple and would put a lot of zealots out of business.

  27. Thomas Patrick Folan says:

GOD BLESS YOU WHITE ROSE AND ALL THOSE WHO SIGNED THE PETITION. WHAT'S NEXT?
    ISN'T ANYTHING SACRED ANYMORE?

  28. Joe says:

ACLU = All Criminals Love Us!

  29. Joe says:

The problem with this country is that decent people will not fight. The ACLU is running away with demolishing everything that stands for good and decency in this land. Next thing, they will declare saluting homecoming soldiers at airports unconstitutional or some other crap like that. Foreign flags are now flown over ours. Gangs are infiltrating town after town. Drugs and violence are at an all time high. Even elections are now rigged by leftist channels like CNN and orgaizations like ACORN. A Republican will never win again. AMERICANS – LISTEN UP! You must go out in masses with arms to protect our freedom. We must protest and shut down ACLU offices in this nation. We must back up Veterans like Mr. Brossard of the Reno flag incident, in which the ACLU wants to punish him. We must take our land over by FORCE! The leftists do it all the time – we just sit back and watch the anarchy destroy our cities in our TVs. Enough it enough! Start forming vigilante groups and patriotic groups now! FORCE is the only solution. The leftist government and law enforcement will not help you! YOU have to sit up and COUNTER-FIGHT all these criminals now! We need the Reagan/John Wayne America BACK! Not the Chavez/Angela Davis Communist regime! DO IT! It is YOUR life at stake!
