Admin Boxer Is A Moron

June 19th, 2009 by Admin

"I worked so hard to get that title." Wow! Having people vote into that position is "working hard?" I wonder how easy it was for Brigadier General Michael Walsh to get his title? I'm willing to bet he worked a lot harder in one year than she has in her entire lifetime! Senator Barbara Boxer is a moron, but what do you expect from someone who absolutely LOATHES the military?

And will she apologize? Never. We'll get an apology for slavery before that happens…what? We're about to apologize for slavery? Who exactly are we apologizing to? Dead people? Why do I have to apologize, I never owned a slave? Oh, ok, it's a feel good thing. Thanks.

Anyway, back to Boxer. This from Fox News:

She may be a lady and a senator, but don't expect an apology from Barbara Boxer for making the distinction to an Army brigadier general this week.

Aside from a briefly worded statement about a "friendly" conversation she had with Brig. Gen. Michael Walsh after dressing him down for calling her "ma'am," Boxer remained silent Friday in the face of growing calls for her to apologize.

Walsh, with the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers, was testifying during a hearing before Boxer's Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works when he summoned the audacity to call the California senator "ma'am."

Boxer immediately interrupted him before he could answer one of her questions.

"You know, do me a favor," a clearly agitated Boxer said. "Could you say 'senator' instead of 'ma'am?"

"Yes, ma'am," Walsh replied.

"It's just a thing, I worked so hard to get that title, so I'd appreciate it, yes, thank you," she said.

"Yes, senator," he answered.

But Walsh was following military protocol, which advises officers to use "sir" or "ma'am" when addressing anyone higher than them on the chain of command.

When asked whether Boxer would offer an apology, her spokesman, Zachary Coile, referred to a statement released Thursday.

"Senator Boxer called Brigadier General Walsh earlier today. They had a friendly conversation, expressed their respect for each other and talked about how they look forward to working together to protect our communities from natural disasters," the statement read.

Sorry, I almost choked on my strawberry cream cheese slathered blueberry bagel!

I'm with you, brother. What a shrew! The letter I mailed to her today appears here on my blog: moogiep.blogs...ehavior.html

She strikes me as being a "natural disaster." Do you think BG Walsh, or maybe the Corps, can "protect" us from her?

  2. Kate says:

You know… I think she just showed her class there. The General knows what's up. ;)

  3. Donna says:

What the ???? Talking about politically correct! She went way beyond that. I can think of a lot worse things to call her than ma'am!!

  4. sue05 says:

I'm thinkin her apology to the Brigadier General will come around the same time as Nancy Pelosi admits she lied!! Ms Boxer appears to have some sincere control issues.

The video was pulled off Youtube because of copyright violations from RCP.
Technically, the general was incorrect, but Senator Boxer could have asked him off-line.
Recall folks that she's not asking for respect for herself, but for the office she holds. Her comment about what she worked for notwithstanding. If she'd worked two hours for it, the courtesy still stands. As I understand it, Nixon had even his closest friends in casual settings call him "Mr. President".

She may be "technically" correct but her manners are deplorable.

  7. NY-David says:

Carol – I agree 100%. There are ways to correct someone and there are ways to take advantage of someones minor mis-step to show the world the class-less idiot you are (meaning Boxer, not you, Carol).

Is this the best that ASP has to report these days from a soldier's perspective? Almost makes me think we live in truly boring times.

    • CJ says:

Yeah, it is. Maybe you shouldn't come back so you aren't as bored or unimpressed! Have a nice life!

      • Marcus says:

        Nice, CJ!

I really don't get people complaining about what we write. If someone doesn't like what we write, get to surfin' else where. Or better yet, suggest a topic for us to cover. Geesh.

      • Critical Facts says:

Torch has a good point – search engines and now senator/ma'am?? We do, apparently, live in rather relaxing times!

        • NY-David says:

Actually, I think the site continues its mantra of giving its view from "A Soldier's Perspective" and many of those items has to do with when the military and our public officials interact.
Those of us not presently in our country's service but having great respect for the military want to know what its like from their side.
If the authors start a discussion on their perspective of "Jon and Kate plus 8", I may skip such posts.

As CJ said "Walsh was following military protocol, which advises officers to use "sir" or "ma'am" when addressing anyone higher than them on the chain of command."

This General gave her the respect his position is required to give.

Whether you are the President or a Senator, the terms "sir" or "ma'am" are still appropriate and no rebuke is called for. There were no mis-teps by the General in this case.

  10. SSgtJ says:

Just curious, did she call him "General" as one would expect a person of her position when talking to a person of his position?

  11. I'm with you on this. I don't have a problem with the sitting head of the Senate Committee asking to be addressed as Senator (that is within her right). It was her unprofessional manner of interrupting him during a response and then complaining about why she deserves to be addressed in such a manner.

Last I checked, getting a majority of Californian nitwits to vote for your lefty self is not exactly a coup.

  14. Zak says:

I keep hoping the Republicans (or the liberatians, or other democrats, or anyone for that matter) will produce a candidate that has a chance of winning against her. Unfortunately, they always seem to trot out nut bags that are farther to the right than she is to the left.

Really hard to imagine any other senator pulling that kind of crap. Essentially, she is trying to demand respect by being disrespectful.

And you know, I'm a slightly left-leaning Californian myself and I really can't stand her.

  15. Zak says:

Oh, and for the individual complaining that you've nothing else to talk about than this -

For a blog titled "A Soldiers Perspective," I think it entirely appropriate that such obvious disdain, disrespect, and unprofessionalism directed at general officer by a member of the Senate (the legislative body which is supposed to be the more civilized and refined of the two) be commented upon.
