CJ Me Vs. Huntsville City Schools and PTA
January 22nd, 2010 by CJ
I wanted to take a quick moment and let everyone know that the school issue between me and Huntsville City Schools has not gone away. To date, I still have not received an apology, they are continuing to move forward on uniforms next year contrary to the Garrison CDRs wishes, and the PTA/PTSA is still out of control with an accommodating principal at the helm.
Tonight, the PTA held it's first meeting of 2010. After the meeting was called to order at 5:59 pm, self-appointed PTSA President (and future PTA Czar), Angela Thomas, told the assembled members that they had to shut off all recording devices or leave the meeting! Yup, you heard me right. After being embarrassed by cameras at the PTA meeting in October for violating PTA bylaws and freedom of speech (among other things), they want to ensure it doesn't happen again. You know, being caught on film in their typical dictatorial fashion.

The lawsuit is still on course, though I can't really comment beyond that. It hasn't gone away and a case of this magnitude deserves attention to detail. A LOT of people from around the country in the legal field have offered their services to our lawyers free of charge which helps keep down costs. I just don't want anyone to think that "out of sight, out of mind" has sunk in. I spoke with Joel Jaqubino yesterday and we're still on track. Huntsville City Schools, Avis Williams, and Angela Thomas WILL answer for their actions so that future military parents (and, frankly, ALL parents) will not be treated the way my family was ever again.

Thanks for the update. The problem with The Huntsville School Board, Ms. Thomas and any other elected or appointed political hack is they all believe themselves to be above the rest of us lowly taxpayers. When they speak we ahould do as they say without question. I have lived thru one government like that and it was defeated on May 8th 1945. Maybe if no appology is given and these self appointed dictators do not backdown maybe your lawyers could get a judgement for several million dollars, that might wake them up, But I doubt it. They want every one to BOHICA ( Bend over here it comes again).
Go get these bastards, CJ. Get these bastards hard!
Thank you CJ for keeping us updated. Best wishes for you and your family.
Glad for an update. Dictators usually get what they deserve and this is no exception!
Thanks for the update. You hang in there, know there are people out here who are with you 100%, and keep fighting! It's time that these "think-we-know-better-than-everyone-else" people learn to listen to those who they are supposed to be representing. It's a shame that they won't do as the majority wishes and won't even listen to what they have to say. But this sounds pretty familiar.
It took some doing and there is still more battles to fight, but the majority of the US are finally beginning to be heard via the election of someone in Mass. who a few weeks ago, didn't have a snowball's chance. People are wanting their right to be heard and to be represented and it's much more than just a national issue. It affects everything down to the local level. So keep fighting for your rights and the rights of others. You've faithfully worked to defend the Constitution and Declaration. Now it's time to bring down the idiots who believe they are above it.
Good luck, prayers to you, and keep us posted!

CJ, your battle is just a drop in the tsunami roaring toward the DC Elite. We're done with arrogant, heavy-handed elitism here in Massachusetts. Martha Coakley epitomizes your PTA's "Shut up and sit down" arrogance. Keep roaring, CJ. They're done and they won't even know what hit them until they're swept from the throne. I'm so proud of you and all who serve with honor.
Please don't think that CJ's battle against local school board is in any the same as what happened in MA.
I'm involved in our local Parents Association and we create a vibrant group that contributes to the school and community that parents have a voice in.
The MA election set both sides on notice to take nothing for granted.
It helps to read both for what they are.

All incumbents, regardless of party, need to fired in the next election cycle. This includes local and state officials who continue to empower the federal government and give away states' rights. IMHO
CJ, Go get em' and Good Luck!!!
Also, Alabama is a "single-party consent" state, so the School Board and PTA can go F#&@ themselves.

CJ
I have followed your blog for a year now because you speak up without fear of retribution…and say what others are afraid to say! Thank You.
I am behind you 100% but I have to ask you this question as a mother and also as an employee of a school that requires uniforms.
CJ,
Can you help me to understand what is wrong with uniforms in schools?
Thanks…
Susan O
Susan, this isn't a case about school uniforms. It's a case about parental rights. It started out with uniforms, but that isn't the basis of my lawsuit.
It started with a principal trying to implement uniforms without the input of parents. At the time, I was ambivalent about them myself. I didn't have any issues, but I felt strongly that it's a decision that MUST involve parents considering the cost.
It wasn't until the principal began attacking me professionally that I started looking into why she was so adamant about going to school uniforms. What I found out drastically changed my opinion on school uniforms in opposition. My research made me fight against them even more fervently.
Studies show that school uniforms do NOT achieve all the things that our educators tell us they do. They don't improve discipline, grades, or pride. They don't reduce behavior issues or instances of dress code violations. There are some places it DOES work, but across the spectrum, uniforms have made schools actually worse off.
I have also come to disagree with school uniforms as a matter of free speech. They are meant merely as a way for educators to further control and subjugate children. Parents need to be held accountable for their children and educators need to enforce clothing standards already in place.
CJ,
Thanks for the reply. As a mother who fought her own child's school district (and won), I get where you are coming from. For you children, it is a fight worth fighting.
You started me thinking and I have read the research on school uniforms.
I am still not of the opinion that it is a bad 'thing.'
It saddens me to see our young girls walking around with nearly everthing exposed and our young boys walking around with shoes untied and pants hanging down below the bottom of the rear end. I want to scream at everyone of them to either cover up or pull up their pants!
Again,I enjoy following your blog.
Good Luck.
Humbly,
Susan O
Susan I agree about the way young girls and boys dress, but uniforms won't solve that. An enforceable dress code will. Teachers and administrators get lazy and think uniforms will keep them from having to enforce standards and that simply isn't true. A boy can have his pants hanging to his ankles in a uniform just as easily as normal clothes.
I just don't think it's the government's job to tell us how to dress for the most part. That's a parental problem and a child walking around like a hoochie or hoodlum is a parental failure.
Don't ever give up C.J.! Make that crazy, Soldier hating Stalinist face the music.
